  • Now that I want forgiveness, how do I handle my past sins?

Hey Rick - “When you and Lucia realized you hadn’t asked for forgiveness for several years, how did you work out the Gospel in that situation? You couldn’t go back and cover everything you had done in that time, correct? So how do you handle forgiving sin over such a long period of time?”

  • To say, I'm busy is a cliche that needs to retire
You can find the article here: http://rickthomas.net/say-im-busy-cliche-needs-retire/
To say, “I’m busy” is like saying you breathed air today. Being a Christian and not being busy is an oxymoron. The un-busy Christian is the problem of the person who does not take the Gospel seriously.
There are several implications from God’s Word that are biblically assumed and universally lived out. Being busy is one of those implications.

  • I will forgive you if you promise to change
You can find the article here: http://rickthomas.net/i-will-forgive-you-if-you-promise-to-change/
Forgiveness is only one aspect of the change process. It is not full or complete change, but one of the mile markers that leads to change. Often forgiveness serves only as a means for relational reconciliation, which is good, but if the offending person continues to behave poorly, then to forgive can wear thin after a while.
This does raise a question: How often should I forgive someone? Jesus answered that question in a hyperbolic way, as He points to an infinite amount of opportunities that we have to forgive.

This is the primary prayer that teaches me how to walk in the Spirit. I pray this daily, several times throughout my day. The LORD has used this prayer more than any other to keep me focused and directed. I hope it encourages you.

  • Am I to forgive someone who is not asking?
You can find the article here: http://rickthomas.net/am-i-to-forgive-someone-who-is-not-asking-3/
As a believer does God’s Word require me to forgive a relative of mine time after time–essentially let her off the hook–for her unkind behavior and attitude towards me, and the many cruel and untrue things she has done behind my back to other family members?
She never asks for forgiveness, and simply tells me that I need to understand how she feels. Am I wrong to stay my distance and set some boundaries? Thank you for addressing this.

  • My husband never asks for forgiveness. How am I to respond?
You can find the article here: http://rickthomas.net/my-husband-never-asks-for-forgiveness-how-am-i-to-respond/
I’m frustrated! I am always approaching my husband with my sin, asking for his forgiveness, but he seems to never see his need to ask me for forgiveness. Many times he won’t even bother to forgive me. What am I to do?
There is always a smell of death to our hard questions because to walk well with God in His world we are called to die to ourselves (Mark 8:34). This is not always difficult in certain areas of our lives, but it can be quite complicated in other areas. Most of the tough spots where dying to yourself is hard are in our most meaningful relationships.
