What Ricky Gervais is saying here is simultaneously impressive and rather empty. One must recognize that Christianity doesn't claim to be discoverable through repeated experiments. Nor are the truth claims of Christianity dependent on their discoverability through the same means that gravity is discovered. Saying we wouldn't rediscover Christianity through natural sciences is about as impressive as saying we wouldn't discover that chocolate tastes good through geological research. So what?
God can be discovered through creation but the details about the Gospel and the death and resurrection of Christ are only made public through direct revelation. Interestingly, we happen to live in a world where exactly that has happened.
