Dark times can sometimes cause us to think that God is unconcerned and distant especially when we are the cause of most of the darkness. In this week’s Scripture, we see Israel go from dark to darker. In a desperate attempt to save their nation, they lose 10’s of thousands including their priestly leadership. Worst of all the ark of the covenant becomes a spoil in the battle which was the place where God had chosen to dwell with his people for the previous 500 years.
