The New Way :: Joy

John 16:16-24

The disciples are being prepared by Jesus to face their greatest sorrow and eventually their greatest joy. Like a birthing mother fearful of their impending labor and delivery, the disciples will weep and wail. So far the two big ideas that Jesus has communicated in John 15 & 16 are that followers of Jesus are spiritually connected with God through the work of the Holy Spirit and are simultaneously battling with and witnessing to the world.
