  • 3/14/26: “Justice” by Cycle of Hands

Cycle of Hands is the alt-somersault genre hydra project of evalynne mclaughlin. She is a Seattle area native who has been helplessly subject to the whims of musical obsession and inspiration for as long as instruments were within reach. She can be found making musical loops, recording, adjusting midi in the grid or playing piano for hours in a daze. . She is releasing a new song on the 14th of every month this year, and her song for today is called “Justice”

  • 3/11: “Midnight Egg” by Adela’s

We’ve all been there: the clock strikes closer and closer to our deadline, but nothing’s coming to mind. That, my friends, is a sign for you to boil an egg, relax your mind, and power through to the finish line. Adela’s is the songwriting project of a Chicago cellist, writer, and music nerd of the same name.

James Foster is a songwriter from Chicago. You can find him on Instagram @naziscantdrive. Forthcoming music from James Foster and the Incitable Boys will soon turn up @jamesfosterandtheincitableboys.
One at a Time is inspired by a joke about how dumb racism is.

  • 3/8/26: “Political Landscape,” by Rebekah Luebkemann

Rebekah Luebkemann is a nurse, a poet and an animal-lover living in Bellinham, Wash. Her poem for March is a reminder that even as the U.S. Empire seems to have fallen into disarray and indecency, the country has always treated people of color and people without much money with this utter disdain and disregard. It is and has always been time to rise up against this spirit of evil.

  • 3/7/26: "Lupine Lullaby," by Will Stack

Will Stack is the part of MTN.EAR, a Snoqualmie-based freak folk project. He is releasing a new song on the seventh of every month this year, and his song for today is called “Lupine Lullaby.” I’m not even sure if I’m pronouncing ‘lupine’ correct, but I still wrote a song about it :)

  • 3/5/26: “The Me I Was Meant to Be,” by Gordon Wright
Gordon Wright is a Chicago-area musician who will be sharing music on the 5th day of the month all year long. Long ago, he fronted an East Coast pop/rock band called Fooled By April. These days you can find him singing jazz in the Chicago Jazz Dads.
My song for today is called, “The Me I Was Meant to Be.” OK, why was I singing about cattle with a thick Texas accent? Well, that’s actually a song I co-wrote for a musical called “Mr. Texas,” that I’m writing with my dad, author Lawrence Wright, and our friend, blues legend Marcia Ball.
This musical has had a long and meandering path, from potential TV show to a few stage productions as a play, to a novel my dad published a few years ago. And now we’re actually producing it as a narrative podcast.
It’s about a West Texas rancher who gets swept up into running for state legislature and manages to win. But he’s not ready for what’s in store when he gets to Austin. This song comes early in the musical, and in a way you could think of it as the “I want” song…for those of you musical buffs out there.
I’m sure I’ll sprinkle some more Mr. Texas songs into this podcast over the year, and if you want to hear some of the tunes, you can head over to https://www.lawrencewright.com/mrtexasmusical
