  • 9/14/26: “unknown sage” by Cycle of Hands

Cycle of Hands is the alt-somersault multi-headed genre hydra project of evalynne mclaughlin. She is a Seattle area native who has been helplessly subject to the whims of musical obsession and inspiration for as long as instruments were within reach. She can be found making musical loops or playing piano for hours in a daze. . She is releasing a new song on the 14th of every month this year, and her song for today is called “unknown sage”. Sometimes the most incredible thing you can be is unknown.. Why am I typing this here? Idk it’s a random thought I had.. I guess it makes sense. Anonymity is a luxury that isn’t appreciated until it is gone. I long to meet this unknown sage. However, the hike to the top is sadly a lot harder and less likely for me to accomplish than I ever would have liked.. Perhaps this song can help your hike. You with your strong legs and even stronger will. <3

  • 9/11/2026: “Bumper Sticker” by Adela’s

A bumper sticker left by another artist inspired a song about feeling too far away to reach someone.

Adela’s is the multi-instrumental solo project of singer-songwriter Adela Skowronski. She gets around Chicago using mostly her cello but is steeped in sorts of goofy music things. For more information, visit linktr.ee/adelascello.

  • 9/5/26: “The Only Thing That Matters,” by Gordon Wright
This is another song from the musical I wrote with my dad, author Lawrence Wright, and the blues legend Marcia Ball, “Mr. Texas.”
This song came late in the writing process. In fact we thought we were done with the musical. But we held a reading and it was clear that the musical was missing a sort of epiphany moment. The moment when our protagonist, Sonny, would pause and tell the audience, and the other characters — and himself — what actually mattered.
In a novel this would be done subtly and artfully and perhaps over the course of multiple chapters. In a play it might be contained in a single line — or simply implied through a dramatic turn in the plot. But in a musical, well, it has to be a song.
This version of the tune was produced again by my friend Aric Jacover. And that pedal steel you hear was actually played by none other than the legendary Lloyd Maines.

  • 9/2/26: “Kingdom Go,” by the songplayer.
Benjamin Goldenhour (the songplayer.) is serious about play, encouraged in chaos, and loves a good ol’ fashioned mistake; he has no idea what he is doing, but that has fortunately never been a hindrance. He lives in the woods somewhere outside Seattle with his novel-writing partner, rock-chewing mutt, ever-curious pre-schooler, and wondrous newborn. Listen for his new music on the second day of each month.
This month’s recording is about the fall of late-stage capitalism.
