Preachers love quoting the passage about knowing the voice of the Good Shepherd and not following the voice of a stranger. But how often have you asked the question, “Is that you, God?” Knowing His voice shouldn’t be hard, right? We often have difficulty in discerning that thought in our head or that impression in our gut when we need to know what to do. This Sunday we are tuning in to some of the ways that God speaks. Listen in and let confusion be replaced with clarity as you listen to this teaching series.

God does have a path and plan for your life. He makes allowances for your choices. His plan still works in spite of the things that happen to you outside of your control. Even an enemy’s attempt to stop you can be used to propel you forward. The route may not be the fastest or most direct but you can be confident your guide knows how to get you where you’re going because He knows what it’s like to be you.

What does God want me to do? It’s such a daunting question with so much riding on the answer. I wish there was a GPS we could follow or some kind of Sherpa we could consult for every decision we have to make. But life doesn’t come with a map. So how do we discover who we’re meant to be and what we’re created to do?

Abraham and Sarah are a great example of how God can bring the dead to life. There was no chance that they were going to have a child at such an old age but when God says, “I will”, He means it! What promise from God are you clinging to today that appears to be dead and gone? Too often, we give death way too much credit because we forget that God has the power to resurrect.

Acting on your impulses is usually thought of in a negative context. Being an impulsive person conjures up images of angry outbursts, uncontrolled spending, and other behavior that causes regret. But what if your impulses are good? What if your true nature was just like Jesus? What if your first impulse was to love? These questions may sound like unattainable idealism but they point to the greater reality of your true identity. You are like Jesus and the seeds of His character have been planted in your heart. It’s time we embrace our true nature and enjoy The Fruitful Life.

Imagine baking a cake without sugar. It might look pretty when it’s out of the oven and all decorated, but take one bite and you’ll know exactly what is missing. Joy is a major missing ingredient in our culture. And without joy, there is no hope for the strength you need to live this life. Jesus endured the cross with a joyful expectancy that included you. You are that joy that was set before Him. You can tap into that same source of joy at any time because it is on the inside of you.

Chaos is inevitable. History shows us that our human efforts to create a peaceful world have been fruitless. That’s because it’s impossible to create peace around us when there is no peace within us. You just can’t give what you don’t have! Jesus came to bring peace on earth by changing us from the inside out. Peace brings order to our inner life so we can carry it to others and quiet the chaos.
