In our final week of the Local series, we look at 2 more ways that we can impact our communities. What does it take to make a difference in our towns? How do we do it not just as individuals but as the Church together? We once again look to the early church as an example. How different would your town/city look if we actually put these things into action?
In our second week of the series, "Local" we look at how our words can impact the community around us. How do we invite others to follow Jesus or talk about God? Are we going about it in a way that is effective in truly leading them towards God or away from Him? We look at 3 ways that we all can evangelize and truly begin to reach those around us to build the kingdom of God.
This week we begin a new series titled, "Local." What does it look like for us to build the kingdom of God right here in our own community? We look at the gospel of John to see how Jesus served others. What should our motivation be when we serve others? What 3 things does it take to serve well in our community?
This week we conclude our series, "The (not so) New Way." We look at how Luke concluded the book of Acts, which at first glance may leave you wondering. We look at how Luke intentionally concluded the book in that way, because what started in the early church is to be continued by us today. God's plan will move forward, are we intentionally choosing to be a part of that plan? Are we living as if we are "Sent" by God to continue the mission?
This week we take a look at the detailed story Luke shares about Paul's journey towards Rome. Why would he go into such great detailed about this specific journey? We take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture that Luke is portraying. We see the way that God is moving his plan forward. We see that there is nothing that will stop that plan from being completed.
In our series, "The (not so) New Way we have looked at the journey's of Paul. This week we take a look at how Paul lived his life. How did he know his purpose, what was his focus and how did he continue to endure in order to fulfill his purpose? His life should challenge us to look at our own lives. Are we living our lives with a bigger purpose? What are our goals and direction of our lives? Are we living like Paul did?
We have been going through the book of Acts and looking at how the early church lived out this new kingdom that Jesus ushered in.
In our series, "The (not so) New Way" we are moving past the center of the book of Acts. Last week, was a little bit of a crescendo and this week we look at a specific event as Paul continues on his missionary journeys. We pause and look at what happened when the Sons of Sceva try and use Jesus name to wield power and authority. Are we any different? When we speak His name is it for our own plan and desires? Are they empty words, or are we allowing God to use us for His glory and not our own.
We reach the center of our study in the book of Acts, that we have called, "The (not so) New Way." Acts chapter 15, tells us about the Council in Jerusalem, that met to discuss what it looked like and what the requirements were for those choosing to be a part of God's family. The decision made at that council should be something we as a church today should be practicing. But are we? Or are we more content and hyper-focused on our traditions and methods, rather than the heart of what really matters when it comes to the mission given to us by God.
This week in our series, "The (not so) New Way we travel with the Apostle Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey. We look specifically where their ministry in Lystra, where Paul uses his knowledge of the culture around him to share the good news of Jesus. We see the importance of understanding the filters people see life through and the filter they see God through.
