We live in a world where people seem to be offended more easily than ever before. It is compounded with the ability to share our "expert opinion" anytime we want. What would it look like if we were more worried about being loving than we were about being right?
The type of joy the world talks about is different from the joy the Bible talks about. This is the perfect time of year to figure out how to have the joy that Jesus wants for us.
The concept of peace is found throughout the Bible. Jesus talks about it many times and the apostle Paul starts every one of his letters with it. So, why is it important and how do we get it?
Advent is a time where we prepare for the coming of Christmas: The birth of Jesus. That birth is what gives us the Hope we are talking about today; Hope that is not in our earthly circumstances. If we were to tie our hope to our earthly circumstances, we would definitely feel let down by God. So, what is this hope really all about?
We all have goals with our money, whether we know it or not: Providing for our family, saving for retirement, and so many more. But the number one goal that brings all the others into balance is honoring God with everything he has given us.
Wealth can make us feel like we are better off than we are and cause us to not rely on God. There's not many things that are more dangerous than putting our hope and trust in our money.
