The organ might not seem like an instrument the younger generation would be interested in, but this week in Wellington young musicians from around New Zealand and Australia will perform at St Paul’s Cathedral as part of Organ Month. Among them are year 13 student from Auckland Rebecca Soojung Lee and from Melbourne Edwin Kwong.

Gerry Hemingway and Sarah Weaver are sound artists who are currently touring the country with a series of concerts, films and workshops relating to the art of listening. Hemingway is considered to be one of the greatest improvisational percussionists in the world, while Weaver is an experimental composer who works with telematics music – live music performed via the web by musicians in different locations around the world.

Sandra Reid has arguably the best job in the world. She lives in France, attends film festivals throughout Europe, and then decides  which films will show at the New Zealand International Film Festival every year. Sandra’s been involved with the NZIFF trust since 1994 and is back home seeing how audiences respond to her picks.

Texan baritone Scott Hendricks is singing the role of  Iago in the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra concert performance of Verdi's Otello opposite Kiwi tenor Simon O’Neill in the title role. His operatic career has developed in the greatest houses in Europe which is unusual for an American opera singer. And he's one of those rare opera stars who also performs in Musicals.

Film maker Roger Ross Williams takes us on a journey through the fascinating life of Owen Suskind, who has autism. Life, Animated - which is part of the New Zealand International Film Festival - explores how Suskind’s love for animated Disney films allows him to communicate with the world.
