"Is it possible for me to live my life the way I want to"?  "Of course, of course"!

“Is is possible for me to be who I want to be”? There are so many truth bombs dropped in this episode!

“I live for creating inclusion. I love the feeling of helping people know that they have a place, they are enough and they are seen”. Esther shares her journey from “taking people’s place at the table away”. This is another toxic societal and religious construct that work on negating our ability to show up 100% yourself.

As a transgendered woman Esther has made it her mission to sharing her journey of transitioning with you and me in the hopes to empower other trans individuals to show up as 100% themselves.

As a California transplant from Walla Walla, Washington, she gives her heart and soul to expanding inclusion in the world, pressing to create more room at the table of life.

In this episode Esther and I explore the “cost of visibility” and shares her journey of being her true self as she navigates her employment as an ordained pastoral minister in the protestant Christian church, navigating the winding journey or marriage, family, friends and her role within and outside of her church community.

Esther has also authored a book about keeping secrets, and earning a master’s degree in leadership from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena. She currently works as a Trainee Marriage and Family Therapist at The LGBTQ Center of the Desert in Palm Springs, while pursuing a master’s degree at Alliant International University. She also produces and hosts the podcast Transgender Woman Talking.

✨Synchronicity is a beautiful thing. ✨

Rory and I met less than a month ago and we just hit it off. We were both selected to be Media Ambassadors for the  AIDS/Lifecycle. After I heard part of Rory’s story I knew I wanted to have him on this show. It was friends at first sight for me.

In this episode Rory takes us on his courageous journey of what it has meant for him to peel off the layers of coming out in highly conservative community,  breaking free from a crystal meth addiction, depression & anxiety, becoming HIV positive, hitting rock bottom and what it was like to be finally feel seen and heard by himself and his community.

Rory Slikker (he/him) is a Clinical Outreach Specialist for a LGBTQIA+ affirming addiction treatment center called Michael’s House in Palm Springs, CA. Born and raised in the small, agricultural, conservative town of Lompoc, CA, Rory’s journey to radical visibility began with VERY humble beginnings. A troubled home-life, high school death threats, HIV, and addiction, taught Rory how to survive first, and live authentically second.

Today, Rory is a sober man and activist that uses his story to help others struggling with addiction, mental health, and internalized homophobia. He is the co-founder of the LGBTQ Association for Addiction and Mental Health Professionals, a Media Ambassador and participant of the AIDS/LifeCycle, and sits on half-a-dozen committees responsible for bringing sober conferences to Southern California.

🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

You may not see yourself as a Unicorn but there is a part of you that is. When I was in Scotland earlier this year I found out that the Unicorn was their national animal. I was wondering why I felt so at home. 🙌 😂

You and I have been conditioned, taught, trained and assimilated into a culture that has oppressed our true way of being since the beginning of time, AND it’s time to put an end to all of it!

→You may have been taught not to shine.

→You may have been told you’re too much, too shy, too sensitive, too intimidating (I’ve been told all of the above) and more.

→You may have been judged for the way you dress, talk, smile, who you love.

or

→You may have been shamed for just being you.

There are a million things we are taught to shame, judge and blame ourselves for and it’s time to break free from it all.

 The world is more beautiful, more joyful, more compassionate, more loving and meaningful place when you show up 100% Yourself.

Laughter, Joy, Revelation and Inspiration are the words to describe this episode of Road to Radical Visibility.

Spoiler alert! Live music is played and I cried! I know a real shocker. Kevin plays a song that reminds me so much of my dad, one of his favorites. I remember spinning to this very song with my dad. It was fuc*”n remarkable. It touched my soul. 

Music has played such a HUGE role in my life. Kevin’s story resonates with me on so many deep levels. He shares the most pivotal times in his life that created the curiosity for music and ultimately sparked his journey and finally creating a career in music and editing. Kevin has provided audio production and voice-over services. Kevin specializes in podcast production, audio editing, music placement, and more. 

From exclusively playing gigs in LA to moving to Miami where he experienced burnout from gigs and pivoted (like so many others) due to Covid and now produces some of the biggest podcasts in the country. 

Kevin shares how over and over again he listened to his intuition to “dabble” in other areas where he could bring in the income he wanted and needed. He dared to follow his, “Wouldn’t it be a dream come true if I could” notions. 

It was such a fun time interviewing my podcast editor, Kevin Laurence Hirshorn. For nearly a decade, He currently produces/edits several successful podcasts, one of which is the #1 Global Financial Technology series "Breaking Banks," reaching over 7 million listeners in nearly 180 countries.

Stop taking "full responsibility" for everything that is happening or has happened in your life.

 I went "off book" with this one. I hope it inspires you to manifest and find the freedom to experience your own "hell yes" moments.

Cheers to another trip around the sun my friends. Every year my life just keeps getting exponentially better and I get to experience it in ways I that have been both expected and unexpected. Often beyond my wildest dreams - like flying first class (bougie bitch travel, no shame no guilt), traveling and making money all at the same time ( Hello Scotland, Costa Rica and more), and create a relationship with myself that is unwavering in ultimate self-trust.

There is a safety within that creates the ability to be open to your desires and receive them into your life.

There are lessons along the way and instead of feeling pain or sadness as I look back on some of these lessons, I feel open to them. Open to accepting how I experienced them, how I felt through them and what came out of them.

Just to clarify, this isn’t “I’m so glad I had that trauma, because it make me stronger”. Nope, this is the “wow, I heal and honor that part of me during that experience. I see her struggle and pain. I sit with her, nurture her, love on her. We are whole”.

What would if feel like for you to look in the mirror and observe yourself complete, whole and perfect right now just as you are?

What would it feel like to create even more openness, self-acknowledgment, and confidence to receive what is waiting for you?

From having “no clue” of how to go from working as an hourly employee at a winery to owning a winery Brandi’s story will empower you to trust and stay on your path. 

From the ups and downs of saying “yes to everything” (for over a year) to the realization that “the things we build don’t have to last forever”, to learning how to release and honor the season of people, places and things with less suffering.

This is what can happen when you follow your “hell yes” and go to a foreign country to meet up with people you barely even know for a week and have ultimate trust in yourself. Pure f'in goodness!

As I walked out to the edge of the rocks at low tide I realized that I was here for more than just a working vacation. I had never felt so connected to myself or my environment as I did in that moment.

Yes, It has been a goal to create income while I am traveling around the world. But this trip turned out to be so much more.  There were moments of adventure, connection with myself, relaxation and times of deep reflection and insight.

“Life is just derailing me right now”, she said.

Her voice began to tremble as she left me this message. I could feel her pain, self-doubt and desire for peace and calm.

Often times it can feel like life is “derailing” you.

The chaos of the world keeps coming at you. Sometimes like little annoyances and other times like big wind gusts that just keep knocking you over.

“When will it stop?” you ask yourself. All the while knowing that it isn’t going to stop. The chaos of the outside world will continue to spin and churn. But you just keep pushing through hoping for the day you can feel just a little bit of respite, a little taste of joy. Unfortunately, when we get that little taste we are so overjoyed we feel like we “have arrived” and as quickly as it came it is gone and you are caught up in “it all” again.

In this episode of Road to Radical Visibility I want to help you create the ability to experience the calm, joy, happiness, (or any other feelings you want to be having) and security within. I have come up with 5 ways to find and stay in your own truth in order to generate these feelings from within.

The likelihood of you finding lasting safety outside of yourself is slim. The good news is that you can find it from within.

You've been taught to react to your environment in order to:
✓Keep the peace,
✓Make sure you don’t offend anyone, or
✓take responsibility for something you have no control over, 
✓most importantly keep yourself safe (this is done by the body, not the mind) and,
✓ exhausted from trying to control everything around you.

In order to create the feeling of safety and security you need to go within and reconnect with what I call the “True Self”. Dive down into the subconscious while, reducing the nervous systems response and teaching the body it is safe to do something different. This is not a one off activity and when you commit to your own wellbeing you will experience a new way of experiencing your life.

It’s time to break free my friend!

When used consistently these 5 things  will create a new neurological pathway that overtime will allow you to no longer be affected by the chaos of the external world.

Are you ready to:

🙌 Confidently and clearly identify what is going on externally and what to adjust internally
🙌 Immediately know what you need to do to create the feeling you want to feel
🙌 Quickly shift your energy into knowing and confidence to free yourself from old patterns of self-doubt, shame, guilt.
