The first miracle of the newly ratified church.

Peter preaches the first sermon in the new church after seeing God's amazing plan come into view as the Holy Spirit descends at Pentecost.

Today we begin our study in the book of Acts. Its a time capsule of the early church. Everything we read in this account is under the wonderful light of Jesus' resurrection.  This sermon's aim is to draw attention to the fact that Jesus woke from the dead and it made all the difference for the 12 as it should for us.  A great exercise is to contemplate the resurrection and ask: what else?  so what? and now what? We don't want to just consider the conclusion that Jesus rose from the dead, but let it truly provide the clarity and activity of our lives.  It wakes us up, grants us repentance, and encourages us to live with a kingdom view, and "Jesus Is Lord" as the banner over the direction of our lives.  Join us as we plan to spend the rest of 2021 and the First Quarter of 2022 becoming closer as body of Christ, striving to go after the Way, and being more like Jesus to Roanoke and its surrounding areas.  Acts will help grace set our hearts aflame to live with the same sacrificial enthusiasm that our brothers and sisters lived on these pages.  Never should such enthusiasm be born out of guilt or a sense of duty, but rather a depth of understanding in how Christ gave all.

Heartache. Difficult times. Pain & Suffering.  No one is immune from them.  We all have gone through them, and we will again.  God promises us to be our shelter and a refuge and will cover us with His feathers.

As we are once again meeting in person, is it possible that there is no greater time for the modern church to recapture the heart of the early church?  This lesson discusses why the early church was so radically effective. It also highlights the motivation for why the early church was so devoted and how that same devotion to imitate Jesus can be recaptured today.

How does one enter the way of life? What does it produce in us as those who are along the way?  Consider a passage in Romans 6 where Paul needed to remind the disciples of how they were brought to life and what they were meant to be in response to such a gift.

What if the greatest reason you could miss "The Way" was because of your goodness.  Yes, you're goodness.
