Today’s sermon concludes our study on the book of Ezra in chapters 9 and 10.  How do God’s people distinguish themselves from all others?  How can we be in the world by not of the world? And what does Jesus say is a mark of those who are his disciples?  Ezra faces the challenge of God’s people failing to distinguish themselves from their neighbors by joining in their false religious practices and by intermarrying them.  Listen in as Ezra and the people do their best to interpret the Torah for direction.

God's hand has guided His people back to His promised land.  He has called them back to Jerusalem from Babylon.  Will they remember the promise (Isaiah 52) and will they return?  Over time we can lose our identity and our purpose and need Gods good hand to guide us back to where we were supposed to be.  Listen in to be called back under the Good Hand of God.  

Think about all that can happen in 60 years. What major milestones in our lives, our country, or our world have happened since 1963? How much do we see the world needs to change? What is the solution? 60 years have passed in between chapters 6 and 7 of Ezra. Ezra arrives at Jerusalem described as a man who sought God, knows His Law, observed it, and taught it to others. Gods people were not people of the law as much as they were before. And change was needed. Listen in to consider the path of seeking God by knowing His word, doing it, and teaching it to others to bring about lasting change.

Have you ever needed a new voice or another pair of eyes to spur you on to finish what you started? Work to rebuild the temple stopped due to forceful opposition for over 10 years.  Prophets Haggai and Zechariah prophesied providing a convicting and inspiring word from the Lord.  The people responded and finished the temple.  Listen in for how we can head this call for our lives as wee strive to partner with God to build His kingdom.

This is the first lesson in our new sermon series out of the Old Testament books Ezra & Nehemiah.  Written as a Part A and Part B we will be uploading sermons for this series through May 2023.    God shows us in Chapter 1 that He is actively stirring hearts to act and will for His divine causes and that He keeps His word.  (See Isaiah 45:13; Jeremiah 51:1-11)

Jon Landis preaches from Ephesians Chapter 5 on a lesson entitled “Be Imitators of God.”  We are designed with the need to imitate and, like a mirror, we will reflect what we look at. Called to be imitators of God, our lives are meant to be free of any evidence of our former selves but rather progress as we continue to grow into Christlikeness. What motivates this need to imitate God?  To keep the former self in the past? Paul says “We are dearly loved children”…and children who have been the benefactors of God’s unbelievable grace! Listen in to be inspired to imitate God, continue to imitate, or to come back altogether.
