  • 285 At The Mercy Of Reality

Mark Twain said, "The man who doesn't read good books is no better off than the man who cannot." Amen to that! If you're a pessimist who is "at the mercy of reality", then you need a healthy dose of 'Learned Optimism' from Martin Seligman, Ph.D. Also, a great short read from Dave Ryan with some awesome wisdom to boot.

Bonus: Some Seinfeld talk and why shopping carts trigger me. Enjoy!

  • 284 'Only' by Nine Inch Nails ~ Songs That Move Me

Trent Reznor dropped his 4th album 'With Teeth' in 2005. It features one of my favorite songs. A song about discovering yourself when you can't see passed the "you" that you think you are. That song is called 'Only', and I'm paying tribute to it on this episode. If you're moved by this song, check out Nine Inch Nail's entire discography, because it is a rare breed of masterfully crafted music. Enjoy!

Howard Stern has a 1993 book called "Private Parts" where he says, "ENJOY, EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT ENJOYING!". Now, how in the hell does that relate to Sigmund Freud, the creator of modern day psychology? How does it relate to our happiness in everyday life? Well, dammit just listen to this episode. Enjoy!

The awesome book "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey has great advice on how to visualize your future and point your life in the direction you want. • 279 Thirsty for Sympathy: Words from Dale Carnegie

One of the greatest books ever written is "How to Win Friends & Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. In chapter 9, on page 167 Dale writes, "I don't blame you one iota for feeling as you do. If I were you I would undoubtedly feel just as you do". That is the basis for this episode on sympathy. Sympathy for yourself and for others, to improve your life and the communication you have with those around you. Enjoy!

  • 277 Ric Flair: Lessons to Live By from "The Nature Boy"

Ric Flair has lived the American Dream. Whether you like pro-wrestling or not, you can't deny that this man has truly LIVED his years on this planet. Because of this I find many lessons in his life that I think we all could benefit from.

This is a re-upload of an old episode that had to be deleted for legal reasons. It originally appeared as episode 152 of the podcast, but in light of the recent health struggles that Ric is going through I wanted to re-release it. As of this recording, the Nature Boy is still fighting and I'm pulling for the Greatest of All-Time. WOOOOOOO!!!!

  • 276 Grateful - How to make every day better.

It seems like we (humans) are losing touch with all the good that we have. They always say being "grateful" will change your perspective, but what does that mean? How does being "grateful" improve anything? And what are some ways to practically apply it to your life? Listen to this episode and let me know if you agree or not - (814) 799-0064
