Robots From Tomorrow!

After tackling the Green section last week, Mike and Greg turn their full attention to the front half of the Previews catalog for September 2016. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW… they may be deemed Premier publishers by Diamond, but are they bringing the goods this month? Will DC’s Gerard Way-headed “Doom Patrol” title be the breakout hit Young Animal needs? Where are the gotta-have-them-NOW books that used the set Image apart from the pack? Standing behind the astronauts, maybe? And is Civil War II the next event giving Marvel momentum at the cost of a burnt-out readership? It's not all gloom and (Doctor) Doom, but talk gets real about what it means to be following Big Two books in 2016 on the second half of the July 2016 Previews double-header!

Another Previews catalog showed up on their doorsteps, so it's time to gaze into the tomorrow of September 2016 and see what catches Mike and Greg's fancy. Carthago! Mooncop! Light! American Blood! Elvis! 2000 AD Prog 2000! Attack on Titan! Magazine-sized Love & Rockets! Cerebus! ATARI! ATARI?!?!? Yes, ATARI! In fact, this episode not only covers the catalog Green section (as in, the greener grass you keep seeing from the Big Two side of the fence), but delves into a decades-spanning video console discussion. So whether you dig Thrill Power, Nintendo Power, both, or neither, there's a little something for everyone in this first episode in the lads' Previews double-header!

This week brings a conversation between two of the most important and influential comics artists of the last half-century: Neal Adams and Bill Sienkiewicz. Greg recently had the opportunity to "moderate" a panel featuring the pair (their first solo panel together), but as you can imagine when Neal gets behind a microphone, it quickly developed a life of its own. Both creators shared stories, insight, and surprises from their decades-spanning careers in comics. A more tightly packed hour of comics conversation you would be hard-pressed to find, so tune in and enjoy this panel from last month's HeroesCon.
