  • (Robservations Replay) Some of my favorite films - beginning with the letter "A" (#013)
Writer-producer-director Robert Meyer Burnett presents ten of his favorite films from his private, physical media collection - all of which begin with the letter "A."

RMB asks us to keep in mind these aren't ALL of his favorite movies beginning with the first letter of the alphabet, just a cross-section of films from his extensive blu-ray and 4K collection that he finds particularly enjoyable.

  • The grief of Wanda Maximoff and news from Disney's annual shareholders' meeting. (#638)
Writer-producer-director Robert Meyer Burnett reviews the results of the recently-concluded, Disney shareholders’ meeting. Touching on plans for rides, theme park re-openings and more, RMB elaborates on comments made about Star Wars honcho, Kathleen Kennedy and the growth of the streaming service, Disney+, largely due to the popularity of The Mandalorian series.

The meeting also saw the final farewell offered to Chairman Emeritus Bob Iger and recognition of the success the company has enjoyed thanks to Iger’s commitment to launching and building Disney+. Disney share prices closed at pre-pandemic high levels following the meeting.

RMB also takes a deep dive into articles about WandaVision and explains how the series may be worth a re-watch - not from the perspective of a fan expecting blockbuster revelations and crises similar to what we’ve seen in the movie theater, but rather for what it is: an in-depth study of one person’s struggle with loss and grief.

RMB also shares letters from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs of the Post-Geek Singularity and answers questions from fans in the livestream chat.

  • In today's entertainment, everyone is beautiful and no one is horny. (#637)
    #MCU #ComicBookMovies #Beauty

ROBSERVATIONS host, Robert Meyer Burnett, takes a closer look at how modern movies celebrate a “heroic” version of beauty that may be unattainable and yet, at the same time, seem to desexualize those very characters in a way that seems contradictory to human behavior. Is this good or so unreal as to be unbelievable?

RMB also shares more viewer mail reacting to the conclusion of the WandaVision series on DisneyPlus (both what didn’t seem to work and, for one Imagination Connoisseur, what worked very well). And we all remember the late, great John Schnepp thanks to memories shared by a fan.

All that, plus responses to comments offered by fans in the livestream chat through SuperChats and Tips - on today’s ROBSERVATIONS.

  • Did WandaVision become a litmus test for all of fandom? (#636)
The last episode of WandaVision dropped on Disney+ on Friday, March 5, and the Post-Geek Singularity was all a-twitter with reactions - both good and bad - to what they saw and how they felt. ROBSERVATIONS host, Robert Meyer Burnett, was no different.

On this show, Rob takes a closer look at the expectations for WandaVision and why so many fans were disappointed - and whether they had a right to be or not. Plus RMB reads letters from fans who express their concern for what they saw as either a lack of focus near the end of the series or, in one case, blatant trolling of fans.

Fan engagement on the show was higher than anything Rob says he's seen in recent memory - and that's exciting for the entertainment business (if not a little bit scary).

RMB also shares other letters and emails from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs and answers questions from fans in the livestream chat.

  • (Robservations Replay) Axanar and me! (#009)
I finally go on the record about all things AXANAR!

Before participating in this conversation, I invite everyone to watch the Fan Film PRELUDE TO After resigning from the failed, Star Trek fan film, AXANAR, writer-producer-director, Robert Meyer Burnett has remained fairly silent about his experience with the production and the lawsuit that erupted in 2017 around alleged copyright violations from Star Trek's owners, CBS Studios and Paramount Pictures. Rob finally breaks his silence in this video.

You can watch PRELUDE TO AXANAR here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W1_8IV8uhA

...and "The Vulcan Scene," directed by RMB, and the only completed scene from the never-to-be-made AXANAR Feature Film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrlNSGbgrlQ

    Enjoy!

    Very proud of BOTH...!
