  • (ROBSERVATIONS Replay) CAPTAIN MARVEL is not a SJW Film (#002)
Writer-director-producer Robert Meyer Burnett reacts to the outcry by some fans that the MCU’s CAPTAIN MARVEL movie is Hollywood bending to the will of fans and social media influencers insisting on a female-led superhero movie. “As fans, we should hope for a great script and a great story,” explains RMB. He explains that the fact superheroes will be depicted as men and women from a variety of races in an inevitability - and we should all be okay with that.

What we need, Burnett continues, is an educated population when it comes to nearly 10,000 years of art and literature. “We can’t something that was created a thousand years ago is now bad because of the way we view things today.”

RMB also answers questions from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs in the livestream chat.

  • Disney lies and steals. Star Trek's future continues burning to ash. (#629)
Writer-producer-director Robert Meyer Burnett walks his fellow Imagination Connoisseurs through the state of the entertainment industry and specifically how deals with creators written up and agreed to in the 1980s and 90s are woefully out of touch with the existence of the streaming video market as it exists today. Case in point: Bill Nye (the Science Guy) and his recent lawsuit against Disney - who refuses to pay Nye residual payments for streams of his content outside of the current agreement for home video sales (which are almost non-existent with the “death” of physical media). What can be done? RMB talks about alternatives.

RMB also discusses the current state of Star Trek as it was explained on a recent investors call with Paramount shareholders. What does the newly announced “Star Trek: Prodigy” mean for the future of the franchise? Rob isn’t pleased and makes his case as to why Star Trek is quickly becoming something other than “Star Trek.”

Plus, RMB shares letters and commentary from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs and answers questions from fans in the livestream chat.

  • The Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming for all of us. (#628)
ROBSERVATIONS host, Robert Meyer Burnett, is excited about the return of the MCU. With recent announcements of the title of the next Spider-Man movie (SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME) and planned release dates for the long-awaited Black Widow movie and Loki series (on Disney+), RMB is ready to celebrate. Rob also shares letters and his personal insights into the issues identified in them - ranging from how he hopes Imagination Connoisseurs handle differences within the Post-Geek Singularity to why he feels so strongly that fans reassess their views on Kathleen Kennedy and the job she’s done with the Star Wars franchise.

And then there’s Airport ’79: THE CONCORDE …

Let’s just say that between the letters and questions from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs, today’s ROBSERVATIONS is full of geeky goodness, laughs and fun.

  • The lessons of Zack Snyder's odyssey to finish the Snyder Cut. (#626)
ROBSERVATIONS host Robert Meyer Burnett shares an article from Vanity Fair detailing the long road Zack Snyder took to re-claim, re-cut and re-launch his vision of DC's Justice League with what is now called "The Snyder Cut." RMB editorializes throughout the segment, providing additional insight into how a movie director reviews and re-cuts projects while they are in-work and when the work on that director's computer might be considered a "finished cut" worth screening ... or not.

But the story of "The Snyder Cut" of JUSTICE LEAGUE is more than just a trail of tears through the movie business and studio politics, it also includes personal tragedy. That's why when HBO Max streams the 4-hour project, it's helpful for viewers to understand the connection between what they're watching and suicide prevention efforts supported by Snyder and his wife.

RMB also shares letters from fellow Imagination Connoisseurs and answers questions from fans following along in the livestream chat.

  • Is Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather II re-cut a masterpiece? (#564)
More and more film directors are re-cutting previous work to give their stories room to "breathe" - and one of the most successful at this has been Francis Ford Coppola. ROBSERVATIONS host, writer-director-producer Robert Meyer Burnett, talks how Coppola's re-cutting of films like APOCALYPSE NOW, COTTON CLUB ENCORE (with new music) and now GODFATHER III (known as THE GODFATHER CODA - The Death of Michael Corleone) is making these films worth watching again.

RMB also provides updates on the upcoming Intergalactic Imagination Connoisseurs' Film Festival and a new show on The Burnettwork - LET'S GET PHYSICAL MEDIA, plus dozens of letters from fans and live questions from viewers of the live stream.

  • Are we all toxic fans or just looking for something to believe in? (#566)
Rob was called out as a "toxic fan" a day or two ago for expressing his opinions about Star Trek: Discovery - and that serves as the inspiration behind today's show. We explore what makes a fan "toxic" and what is driving the ever-increasing spiral of passion, interest and vitriol around our favorite entertainment franchises.

Enjoy all of that plus letters from viewers and comments sent in from live stream participants in today's episode of ROBSERVATIONS.

  • The problems of modern Star Trek on the big and small screens. (#625)
ROBSERVATIONS host, Robert Meyer Burnett, shares an interview from Trekmovie.com with Star Trek luminary Ron Moore. Moore tells why, in his opinion, Star Trek may not be a good fit for the cinematic format. He suggests that Star Trek stories don't always make for good "spectacle" of the kind that shows best on the big screen. This article then segues into a longer discussion of Star Trek's popularity and attractiveness to its audience.

RMB shares some tremendous letters fellow Imagination Connoisseurs and answers questions from fans following along in the livestream's chat session.
