The Great American Beer Festival is over and the awards have come home!  This week, we drink San Diego's Champs!  First up the Gold Medal winning My Blood Nightmare from BNS Brewing and Distilling in Santee

We're ending this week with a Bourbon AND a mixed drink.  Sean from Shadow Ridge Spirits shows us what happens when a brewer uses his background to craft an incredibly drinkable spirit.

Trust your Chief!  Trust that this 1893 Navy Strength Rum is ready for business.  At 114 proof it's a smooth easy drinking rum that expresses all the flavors you would expect from a high proof rum but incredibly drinkable thanks to it's rich and sweet finish enhanced by coffee and vanilla flavors from being aged in an ex-bourbon barrel.

Sean has flexed hard on how he separates himself from other distillers by using his brewing background to craft spirits with depth of flavor.  Today we get his twist on an American Single Malt Whiskey.

I found Sean from Shadow Ridge on Instagram by complete accident and in the words of Bob Ross it was a "happy accident."  Today we kick off our week of spirits with one of my personal favorites, rye whiskey.

Earlier in the week we spoke with BattleMage about the beer that started the brewery by winning the Rhythm & Brews contest, tonight we drink that beer!  Annnnnd since it's Friday we're going to do a "bonus beer" where I get to read the BattleMage story just for you.

Its origins date back to before Hazy IPAs were a "thing"  So it was a little more experimental than what defines the current trend.  One thing is for sure, this hazy is flora, delicious and crushable!
