We all know God wants us to live a full and fruitful life, and yet sometimes we struggle to understand what God wants from us for our future. In this sermon we wrestle with this question of how God's will interacts with our lives.

We are told that God will answer our prayers and yet we have experienced many times that God does not give what we ask for. We look at why God doesn't give us everything we want and how prayer works.

As we continue to grow and mature and center our lives on Jesus - we need the tools of the faith to keep us on mission. Paul calls those things the armor of God and each is necessary and essential!

Paul shares a teaching that is challenging to us: the call to submit. Paul shares that everyone is to submit although he does mostly uphold the Roman way of doing things for his day. Yet his treatment of women is a radical departure from the common way of thinking and even his call for the kind treatment of slaves. The call is for all to submit so that the work Jesus is doing can transform the world!

As we mature in our faith and in following Jesus, we naturally get rid of old, unhealthy ways we used to live and replace them with new vital ways of life that bring heaven on earth.

Last week we discussed how the church is one family, a community united around a relationship with Jesus! This week we talk about how in that family, each person has a role to play. When we each serve in our capacity, the church is capable of changing the world. When we do not, it becomes stagnant.
