ROCKOLLECTIONS

This is the Final Chapter! When is the BEST time to hear a Hot Wailing Saxophone? For me, at a small Rock & Roll Club Around Midnight!Remember weeks ago when I played my fave Jazz Song?Well I’ll have an Answer Or Sequel Song to it recorded 3 or 4 years later that went largely unnoticed! For Songs that HAVE to be played if you are doing a Series On Saxophone, I’ll have Clarence Clemons with one of his finest moments! That was going to be the Series Closer. But Free-Form Radio means whimsy, and it seems there’s this fella from the Bronx...!Do give a listen to the Finale, and I hope you enjoyed these Saxophone Songs- the obvious and the quirky! With so much Sax to choose from, another return is not out of the question.

Mike

It’s Sax And The City for 2 Final Chapters!I still had that pile of songs and I wasn’t going to waste them. There are a million Saxophone Songs to choose from- some I picked simply because I like them, others just HAVE to be played if you are doing a Series On Saxophone!Much of the fun for me doing this Small Exploration has been playing songs where the Prominent Sax has been forgotten.Let’s see how well you do with these! Will you get it right away, or take a while before saying, “Oh yeah”, lol?Join me for these Saxcapades!

Mike

I’ll start this Chapter with a Cover Song that did better on the Charts than the Original, and a Sax in there you may have forgotten.Sax And The City moves on with an unusual Instrumental co-written by the unlikely pairing of Duane Eddy and Ravi Shankar! Some outstanding Tunes in here, trust me.And I’ll close this Show again with a Long Cut, where you have to wait for the Saxophone, but it’s worth it.I’ve got one more good Sax And The City in me- maybe next week. But do give a listen to this one, I think you’ll you enjoy it!

Mike

We return to Sax And The City, and just in Time!Time is Precious- just ask Van The Man!This Celebration Of Saxophone continues and I am finally going to play a Song people must have been screaming at me to play! And I’ll go back to the Heyday of Rock & Roll Sax with a couple from the 50’s by not just anyone- this guy, the Beatles recorded 3 of his songs, and even the Stones did one! Some Oddities after that, including a mad B-side Instrumental for us Sax Maniacs!Come on, join me for a Bumpy Rockin’ Ride!

Mike

It's something different for Halloween this year, Screams In Rock & Roll. You can get the Monster Mash elsewhere, that's easy!I have a terrific Headphone Song in here, with lots of Screams.I can still remember it swirling around my head in that first close listen! Then we'll find some Screams All Over The Place- A Tour de Scream, lol!Finishing with the End Of The World...worth a Scream, but not really, just the end of the Show!Happy Halloween Everyone, and May The Great Pumpkin Bring You Great Gifts!

Mike

I thought for Halloween this year we'd give a listen to some Screams In Rock & Roll.Sometimes they come right at you and sometimes you wait till the end, or they can be anytime in between.Words are not always enough in Rock. When Rockers want to convey Rage, Pain, Frustration or Ecstasy, they will on occasion toss back their heads, throw all caution to the wind and SCREAM!So Scream It From The Mountaintops, Pell is playing Screams...and Hits too, lol!Join me, for a Refreshing Outburst!

This episode will close out our Songs For Autumn this year. There is something about The Fall Season that lends itself to a certain melancholy, a wistfulness, as the days get shorter and the nights colder.Suggested listening time is a Cold Night.I'll play what I consider the BEST song ever written about Autumn and the coming of Winter, pure poetry in my humble opinion. And I'll give the final word to the guy who has written and recorded more songs about Autumn than ANY other artist...it's non-negotiable!What it always comes down to is this- I hope you like what you hear, and I enjoyed playing what I did!

Mike

Last week it was Fall Colors, this is more of a straight-up Celebration Of Autumn.I will be playing more topical Songs For Autumn, and even dip into that Great American Songbook.Leaves are a popular song subject at this time of year.As a kid I loved walking through the fallen Leaves, still do- and the smell of burning Leaves was the smell of Autumn for me, sadly forbidden in many places.Something in this Episode may surprise you, and I will give you a touch of it.Also a guy I wouldn't ordinarily play, but the segue was too enticing to pass up.A time to chill out, as more and more outdoors there is a chill out!Hope you enjoy this!

Mike

Celebrating the Fall Colors, it is time, after almost 10 years, for the Return Of ROY G BIV!Any idea who that is?Well, honestly he is not a person but rather a teaching aid used by the nuns when I was in grammar school. It was a way to remember the Color Wheel, an acronym. And over the years, I have been vindicated, and will prove it, for introducing this and having no one else remember it, lol!So that is what we will do on Color Radio this time. You'll get the idea real quick, as I take you musically on a trip around the Color Wheel with ROY G BIV.Enjoy the ride!

Mike

To everything there is a Season, and we are comfortably settled in to this Season of Autumn. It's October, so I'll play my favorite End Of October song.Fall is now tied with Winter as Best Time Of Year for me!Best of all are the Hues, Shades and Tones of Color everywhere!I tried this once before years ago, and went deeper into the Music Library this time. Please join me in my new attempt to bring you Color Radio!
