ROCKOLLECTIONS

For some reason during the break July popped into my head, specifically July 14th, Bastille Day- a big deal in France and for the French Revolution in 1789.I was kinda proud to quickly think of a song to play commemorating it.After that, an Academy Award Winner, a song by Lighthouse that I will always be of the opinion should have been a big hit, and still can't understand why it wasn't.Then a Set of songs that deals with a painful situation most of us go through at some point in life- and three slightly different ways of handling it.These 3 Folk/Rockers were Life-Changing songs for me- I heard them at just the right, impressionable age. Therefore that's why they make the cut for my Favorites and Guilty Pleasures.Do enjoy!

Mike

It's Volume 3 where I'll play some Favorites and Guilty Pleasures of mine- my little contribution to songs you've heard or should have heard.Unusual for me, I knew before I sat down what the first four songs I'd play would be, and I'll give verbal clues to three of them. Also included, a very early Fleetwood Mac single, both sides- and they couldn't be more different.People seem to like these shows.I'd be a fool if I didn't hope that continues, lol!

Mike

This is it, the Grand Finale of For The Birds!A last chance to play what you may have expected to hear.I'll begin with a perfect little Pop Song by the Kinks that was only available as a Bonus Track- I can't believe they would not have released it back in the 60's!After that, ANY of the chosen Songs could have been the Last Song- the one I give a lot of thought to.And I will finally be playing one you had to figure I'd play sooner or later...it's later, lol!I hope you had fun listening through this whole Flight Of Imagination that started simply as a Return Of The Birds for Spring after the Winter.Join me for a listen, this Finale has some Heavyweights!

Mike

We are getting very near the end of For The Birds, to the great relief of some, lol!I went Pecking for some Deep Cuts in this Chapter. The Birds will be the beautiful Peacock, the eat-anything Seagull and the pretty Nightingale!Included in the Music will be the maybe remembered group Beggar's Opera, a cut from the debut album of one the the great Songwriters of Our Music, a Tune from a Movie Soundtrack, and more!Oh and this may be of interest- a Song Paul McCartney gave away to the Everly Brothers in 1984!It's all leading to the Grand Finale coming in the next Episode. So join me for a listen to songs For The Birds you haven't heard in a Long Time, if Ever!

Mike

It's For The Birds, and I'll begin this Chapter with 3 Songs that are unconnected yet seem to Segue nicely into each other. Then it's time for a Point/Counterpoint, I haven't done one in a while- this one regarding the Subject of Pigeons!Oh, and the Point/Counterpoint will come from two unexpected sources.I'll have a true story about a Pigeon smacking me in the nose (I have a witness), knowing full well it's a "You had to be there" moment, lol!To close, I have some Music for the Pretty Flamingo. You might think I would have exhausted the supply of good Bird Songs in Our Music by now, but looking at what I have remaining, there will be a Grand Finale coming to close it all out!Do give a listen to this Episode, it's no slouch, you'll not feel cheated!

Mike

I am here, still on my Perch, playing For The Birds.Beginning with a Leonard Cohen song from his album Songs From A Room. Then Songs about the Incredible Hummingbird- they can flap their wings up to 80 times per SECOND, and are the only Birds who can fly BACKWARDS!After that, it's a short flight from Hummingbird to Mockingbird! It's the usual Mixed Bag of songs you know, songs you may not, and all I like.Join me, I have Good Taste, lol!

Mike

In this Chapter, For The Birds takes a Look and Listen to Songs about the Majestic Eagle. Most you should know. Those you don't, allow me to introduce you to them! After that, it's Birds by the Numbers- you'll get what I mean.To end, a Theme Song we all know, and within our Theme.I hope you are enjoying these selections, and I still have a load of them!We and the Birds have made it this far.I promise much good Music to come until this Series ends...a Guarantee!

Mike

For The Birds returns, beginning with a song for the Bird with the Largest Wingspan of any living Bird today! After those Largest Wings, some Music for the Little Birds! Then the Featured Bird in this Chapter will be the Sparrow. Finally ending with a Song I said I am sure...but not THAT sure, people will remember by a group called Osibisa, lol! After listening to this on playback, I wondered how many people will know these Songs?I am sure some will- but I, Me, Myself know them and I can't Un-know them! What can I say? I LIKE doing Themes! It gives me the chance to take risks, attempt to be inventive in presenting Our Rock & Roll Music!Nothing on today's Radio SURPRISES you anymore, but I TRY to, and it's Free-Form Radio! So join me for what may be unfamiliar, but ALL Songs must be heard a First time!

Mike

It is time to wrap up my Salute To Mothers. This final chapter will have a song my buddy Mike and I always laugh along with to begin, followed by an early R&B song from before there was Rock & Roll, but whose sound clearly forecasts what was to come. After that I'll turn serious in this Finale!Beginning with a Phoebe Snow song for her impaired daughter, followed by one that deals with Mothers and the Thread running through 3 generations. Then I'll conclude with the unfortunate but honest part of this Series, the inevitable end that comes to us all.It is the natural order of things that parents are predestined to die before their children. And Mothers, Angels that they be, are not exempt.I hope you enjoyed the fun, laughs and tears contained in this respectful and loving Celebration Of Mothers, Mamas, Moms & Ma's.

Mike

Opening the 3rd week of the Salute To Mothers, there are some who may think the series is too long- maybe feel ALL my series are too long.I will address that, and how as these Theme shows progress I think of more songs. This chapter I will open with an Oldie...wait...this famous song goes well beyond Oldie, lol! After that, a long set of music concerning how some Free-Spirited Moms would stack up against the standards set by that aforementioned Oldie. Then it's time for another Pell Puzzle, a What The...?Why am I playing these three songs in a Salute To Mothers?I have every confidence you will figure it out, certainly by the last tune.Just as I am confident you will enjoy the Music in this episode. But things are about to turn serious in the forthcoming Finale!
