We all know someone who promotes one thing and does the opposite. Promotes health & fitness but then goes on benders over the weekend drinking and taking drugs. Someone that preaches alignment and flow but is at the stronghold of her phone. We see the coaches selling the “6 figure” dream then find out next year that their tax bills pushed them into liquidation.

If knowledge and know how exists, why is it that we see clients often doing the opposite to get to the end goal? Because behaviour change is complex and confronting. Often we know there are other things underneath it all.

In this episode I talk about a real threat for many coaches. It leads to burn out and you don’t really know why.⁣

I had been in scarify mode for a while. 2016 I had asked myself if I could continue to live like this. Anything and everything was done out of the fear of losing it all. All the stuff I had worked for felt like a massive weight I had to withhold so I couldn’t take a break or take a slower pace.⁣

“Passion” was the rouse, vision was the explanation given. It was out of scarcity and it felt like shit. ⁣

Forever tired, always exhausted. Monday to Saturday go go go, fall on the couch come Sunday and try to recuperate. Those bad weeks that were always present every month but we don’t want to acknowledge them.⁣

We can change the way we run our business but it does require you to deep dive on your shit and lay your ego out. ⁣

Always hitting the month to month cycle where you are feeling “in flow” for 3 weeks and then you get that 1 week where you feel like utter trash. ⁣

These skills are the bloodline of your business. Never neglect them. It's not a set and forget. Never stop refining your base level skills.

I know how overwhelming this industry can be. Whether you’re at year one or year five there are always lots of things to do and without clear structure and advice it can be hard to figure out where to go.

Hands down the biggest struggle I face with other coaches I work with (and myself) are the limits we put on ourselves because of the beliefs we hold.

This week I was finalising some work with a copywriter I hired. She was asking me lots of questions around why I created my business, my gym and my upcoming program for female business owners. As I sat and worked through my thoughts the answers kept coming back to the same thing. I wanted to help other women explore the strength that they have but never yet truly unleashed. Whether that be in the gym or in their business.

She asked me what were the real struggles that I faced as a Coach and business owner.

It wasn’t the lack of knowledge or the lack of systems or my sales skills. It was my self-doubt. The negative thoughts that kept me small and controlled every action I did or didn’t take.

Spoiler: the answer is not looking for a building and getting your logo and apparel done.

Get your foundations sorted first before you go looking for brick and mortar. Get your solid workings running for a consistent period of time before you throw money into a building and pray for people to walk in cause you have a gym now.

With lockdown hitting us again this past week, my business was thrown into a burning house and I was required to make some fast and thought out decisions in a short space of time.

I’ve been told I’m very good at collecting my thoughts, weighing up many sides and being very decisive when I need to be. I agree. It’s one of the many skill sets I forged while running a business.

In times like the ones I am facing, I have a clear thought process that I work through that gives me the confidence I need to pull the trigger when I need.

It’s an element of your service offered to your clients. Goal setting and health & fitness go hand in hand.

Clients come to you wanting to achieve something specific (or a lot of the time not so specific). You sit down with them, discuss where they want to go and what that plan might look like.

The plan sounds great, you’ve programmed like a boss and laid out the special recipe that you’ve poured attention into.
