The Swarm gets teleported up to the head of Conroukos in order to retrieve Wordweaver's special item that is meant to be there. When searching the form of Conroukos they discover that he is still conscious despite a portion of his mind missing. After retrieving the item, the Swarm request Hectaria to drop them off in Boomchester, too which she accepts. Upon getting back to Boomchester and meeting up with Johnny, they discovered that Johnny was a terrible caretaker of the children. They spend a lot of time catching up, learning what Johnny has been doing with Boomchester and the success that has come his way. At the end Zani reveals that Johnny has been keeping people in the basement.

The grand plan to kill the emperor begins to play out as Saybie is quickly found and tossed out of a window into the center of the courtyard. The battle rages back and forth between Saybie and the Warden. While Morals hides away in the emperor's sleeping chambers waiting for an opportune moment to make his move. Eventually Saybie escapes with the help of Fredrick, Morals eventually slinking out of the castle on his own. Meanwhile Tresal and Mountebank travel back towards Phillipsburg, Tresal ruining the friendship with Mountebank right off the bat.

The Swarm and Mog engage with the Champion, also known as Galaxan the goddess herself. The party first defeats the magically altered platinum guards, dodging their blows and fiery breath weapons. After much arduous fighting back and forth the party starts to wane, when Animatrous appears to aid in the defeat of Galaxan. With this assistance the party pummels Galaxan back who continuously saps life from them for her own safety. Her desperation peaks when she drains most of the life out of Xalla, stealing her breathe weapon ability and mowing the party down.

As the party waits for the arrival of Grotty they start to make plans in order to get Morals and now Saybie into the castle. Working with the idea to go into the sewers beneath the city the party marches through fecal matter to the castle. Eventually coming to a grate Saybie shrinks down and goes through, making her way down the tunnel till she comes upon a toilet and blocks it with vines. Which within a day gets them hired in order to unclog the toilet, to which Saybie takes the liberty to crawl further down. In order to clog one of the emperor's personnel toilets, gaining her and Morals access to the inner palace. After some on the spot planning, Morals is dropped into the sewers, presumed dead and left there in order to wait for the proper moment to kill the emperor.

Tresal's and Saybie's search begins, they move throughout the city specifically around the palace in order to try and catch Morals. Moving towards the city from the abandoned town, Morals learns from Fredrick that Tresal and Saybie are in fact in Octenwald. He decides that avoiding them is the best course of action for the time being and starts moving around the city fulfilling tasks. After some time Tresal spots Morals and catches up to him, to which they all have a conversation as what to do next. After some convincing Tresal goes off with Fredrick in order to rid themselves of the Erlking's influence. The task is done successfully and now Tresal is without an arm, but at least their heart beats on its own.

The Swarm and Mog continue to make their way deeper into the forests of Hectaria, the weight of their conflict and fractured hearts on their shoulders. Eventually a figure appears out of the forest, Noesiah's mother in a state of conscious undeath. They talk to her, finding out her plans to storm the camp by night fall to try and get an ambush on those in the old temple. Her appearance sparks new conversation amongst the group about who Noesiah is and how this should be. Noesiah gets talked to, which seemingly gets a slight breakthrough allowing her to work on making amends with Wordweaver who is on his final straw. Mog talks to her as well and learns that even though he thought what he was doing was right, it didn't justify the means. As the party concludes their conversations the time comes for the battle commence.

The party after splitting apart each prepares for the long journey home. Morals rushes along on his steed, finding another fawn on his way to Octenwald. He hops a ride with the white dragon him and the party had made friends with prior. Tresal and Saybie rush off to catch up with Morals, missing his encounter with the dragon by a day. As Morals and his new companion continue their journey, they come across a corrupted ooze of sorts that nearly kills Morals. Tresal and Saybie. eventually catch a ride with the dragon and make it back to Octenwald in no time. They begin their search for Morals upon their arrival.

The Swarm and Mog make it to Hectaria, they find that the harbor is filled with galaxy ships. As they sneak move their way through town, they discover that all the townsfolk are enslaved and starving. After some snooping around they discover that the town is under the command of a singular individual who is being protected by some platinum guards. They enact a very half baked plan in order to try and free this town, everything quickly goes awry and the party needs to fight their way out and run for their lives. Losing their pursuers the Swarm and Mog find a raided and destroyed town. They eventually find a hidden room where a bunch of kids currently reside. They tend to them and try to help them get better settled before leaving them there deeming it safer. The party's divines become ever clearer as conflict rings out as they continue their trek throughout the rainforest.

Saybie and Morals stick to themselves and do some talking over the recent behavior of Tresal and about life in general. Trying to determine what their next move should be and what truly should take precedence above other things. Meanwhile Tresal goes on a murderous rampage, killing all of the guards surrounding the location that once housed their home. Eventually venturing into the city, attempting to continue this reign of terror. Though they are quickly shot down, but luckily saved as Morals and Saybie hear the commotion and get them out of the city. Tresal is able to let Morals know that the necrotic land reeks of the Traveling Salesman. This gets the group to head there in attempt to figure out more about it, reenacting Tresals murder spree on the new set of guards. They are soon interrupted as a creature similar to the salesman appears and starts killing everyone, nearly taking the party as well. After this attack Saybie and Morals discuss more as to what the plans should be and Morals decides to run off in an attempt to kill the emperor by himself.

The Swarm has started their journey across the sea towards Hectaria, to the home of Noesiah and Mog. Though the days have been easy going the evening is nothing but filled with issues. The second night of their travels the party is thrown into a combined dream like state that puts them through combat with traumatizing moments from their respective pasts. After which they are faced with a series of puzzles, testing their ability to problem solve. Eventually finding each other once more, they continue through this facility figuring out a few more puzzles along the way. After completing one final puzzle they all escape back to the real world to go through the day. The next evening the party has another series of nightmares, but these ones being a lot more personal and cutting. Causing them all to wake with a feeling of emptiness and confusion.
