I just completed my 24th episode of the Rolling Home podcast which I started in February of this year. It has been a lot of fun and is a hobby I enjoy. However, I've noticed that my audio isn't always the best, so with this podcast I discuss how I have recorded my podcast in the past and some new tools that I plan to use in the future. One of those tools is the Anchor online podcast studio. Join me today on Rolling home as we discuss my experiences as a new podcaster.

Modern consumer society results in us accumulating more, but in many cases, results in enjoying life less. Have you noticed that advertising is always telling us to buy the latest and greatest despite what we might already own works just fine. If you are a part-time van camper owner like me or another RV owner, the coming of summer travel means clearing out the clutter from winter and preparing to head out for an adventure. While our Class B Winnebago Travato affords us a great amount of flexibility and agility when it comes to travel, the downside is that it lacks storage to take along all but the most essential gear. While we use our rig year-round, for me, my Spring Cleaning checklist covers several items – many of which should be common to any RV owner. We discuss that and more on this episode of Rolling Home!

Post World War II America ushered unprecedented change in the way Americans worked, lived, and traveled. What's more, many technologies we depend on today were born through the space program of the 1960s. They include things like satellite TV and navigation, laptop computers and smartphones, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and the joystick used in computer gaming – technologies that also make #vanlife travel and working from the road possible. But possibly the most significant achievement was the development of the Interstate Highway System. The interstate highway system opened a door to convenient and widespread motor vehicle travel. We discuss this and more on this episode of Rolling Home.

As a kid growing up in rural Missouri and later Arkansas, I loved watching the short-lived TV series, "Then Came Bronson." Then Came Bronson began with a TV pilot that aired on NBC on March 24, 1969; and was also released in Europe as a theatrical feature film. This was followed by a single season of 26 episodes airing between September 17, 1969, and April 1, 1970. There was a lot to fascinate a young boy at the time in the TV show. There was a sense of adventure in every episode. The central figure was James "Jim” Bronson, played by the actor Michael Parks, a newspaperman who seemed to have a keen sense of fixing practically every situation and circumstance he encountered along the road. Then there was, of course, the motorcycle he rode on his adventures — 1969 XLH 900cc Harley-Davidson Sportster. Join me today as we discuss the TV show and how it was a 1960s version of what we are witnessing today in the nomad movement.

The arrival of warmer temperatures across the U.S. officially ushers the traveling camping season in earnest. Unfortunately, warmer temperatures also bring bugs, mosquitoes and all types of other insects out in force. While I love exploring the outdoors, insects seem to always be a constant nuisance. Traveling in a camper van affords a lot of amenities that can help fight back bugs and other flying varmints. When we travel we utilize several strategies that can help provide a much more enjoyable camping experience. Join me today as we explore some simple ways to keep the bugs away while camping this summer. #vanlife #Travato #Winnebago #campervan #insects #bugs #summertime #camping

In today's episode of Rolling Home we talk about the various YouTube channels I watch regularly and how they have helped enhance my Class B and RV travel experiences. Yes, TV isn't what it used to be because today you don't have to just watch "what's on" but can learn and grow and discover something new and skills that help you in everyday life on platforms like YouTube. #vanlife #ClassB #travel #Winnebago #Travato #campervan #YouTube #Podcast #TV #nomad
TV isn’t what isn’t used to be.
When I was a child I couldn't wait to watch Saturday morning cartoons and the latest episodes of Batman. As a young person, I watched Mannix, Gunsmoke, and the Red Shelton Variety Show regularly with my grandparents and parents.
Even the news with Walter Cronkite was a major event most days with the newsman's famous ending phrase, "Well, that's the way it is!"And I'll never forget the night in July 1969 when our family sat in front of our TV and watched flickering images of a man walking on the moon. It was also a very special occasion for my 9th birthday!
Well, as we all know TV ain't what it used to be, and definitely isn't your grandfather's – or even your father's – TV anymore. To illustrate, recently while my wife was away I decided that I would watch a good movie – something that I don't often do – for a few leisurely hours. After 10-15 minutes later of pursuing a plethora of movie channels and other offerings, I settled in waiting for an old Jerry Lewis movie.
Today, my TV watching habits look nothing like it did in previous years, as I find myself many nights watching YouTube channels about a variety of topics and destinations that interest me. And for a number of years I have been following various van dwellers, nomads, off-grid enthusiasts, and others who have chosen – or been forced into – a very different lifestyle than my own.

Many people suffer from springtime allergies like me. While it's unavoidable while traveling, there are some things that you can do to prepare your rig — and your body's immune system — for the onslaught of springtime pollen and other allergens. In today's episode of Rolling Home, we discuss how one allergy sufferer (me), does just that. #vanlife #RV #Winnebago #Travato #springtime #allergies #vitaminC

Summer is almost here in many parts of the United States, so it's time to plan on how to stay cool while boondocking in an RV. Already, I have come up with a number of ways to keep my van cool, while at the same time conserving energy off-grid.
