The day after we completed the purchase of our Winnebago Travato 59G we hit the road. I learned a lot about our new rig and the way it handled high winds and stormy weather. It's easy to see why the Travato is the No. 1 selling Class B camper van in the United States. Join me on our maiden voyage that includes a few twists and turns, as well as a number of pleasant surprises. I learned that sometimes less means more when considering the flexibility of a Class B camper van. #Winnebago #Travato #ClassB #vanlife #boondocking #solar

We've all heard the American idiom, "Go big or go home!" In this episode of Rolling Home, I discuss how we "went small and brought home" our Winnebago Travato 59G Class B camper van. It is just what the doctor ordered to replace our Sportsmen Classic travel trailer that was stolen. You could say the 59G is built with boondocking in mind with its onboard solar and other amenities. Join me today for a discussion of our new rig and be sure to check out photos via the show notes below. #Winnebago #Travato #ClassB #vanlife #boondocking #solar

If you're like me you are seeing a lot of advertisements online and in print about portable power stations, which are sometimes referred to as "solar generators." Well, the ones I've seen don't "generate" power, rather store it. These devices are convenient for off-grid power and boondocking. Using a lot of items I already had I recently built my own 800-watt power station. In this episode, I discuss what I did on my arguably low-tech version of these expensive new toys. Be sure to check out photos of my contraption in the show notes! #RV #vanlife #boondocking #powerstation #solar #offgrid

Have you noticed our country seems to be changing before our very eyes? The social and cultural unrest the United States is experiencing today was laid out in 1958 in the book, The Naked Communist by American political theorist W. Cleon Skousen, a former FBI employee. In this episode of Rolling Home, we discuss social and cultural change and how it could limit our freedoms like RV and van leisure travel. #communism #socialism #RV #vanlife #freedom #religion #Belarus #Russia #ColdWar

Sometimes we don't think about security while traveling or RVing until it's too late. On this episode of the Rolling Home Podcast I discuss my approach to security while boondocking and staying at RV parks. In addition to typical security measures everyone should exercise in everyday life, I discuss a new security system I am planning to implement based on the new Wyze 3 camera. #boondocking #RV #security #vanife #Wyze

Remember the skit on Saturday Night Live where Chris Farley, as a motivational speaker, declares that he's recently divorced and now lives "in a van down by the river?" In this episode of Rolling Home, I want to talk about why I think a van is a great platform for an RV, and why that might be the direction I'm headed for my next RV. However, I have lots of questions, and I go looking for them at places like CheapRVLiving.com and by watching lots of YouTube videos about #VanLife.

In today's episode of the Rolling Home Podcast we talk about why there are bad people in the world and discuss how you can identify a bad person in your life through their behavior. It's because I know there are bad people in the world that I wasn't surprised that my 2015 Sportsmen Classic was stolen. I'm disappointed but not defeated. I plan to do something very special in the future as a result of the loss. Join me for a very special edition of the Rolling Home Podcast!

After only a few months of RV ownership and only one adventure, my 2015 Sportsmen Classic is stolen! Not only did the thief get away with my trailer, but several thousands of dollars in gear that I had purchased for it. The lesson I learned is not to store something like a trailer at a storage facility without adequate security and cameras! Join me on this edition of Rolling Home as I break down what happened and how I plan to move on following the theft of my trailer.

Join me on a special edition of Rolling Home as we visit Laurel, Mississippi, where the hit HGTV show Home Town is filmed. The occasion of my visit to Laurel was a memorial service of a longtime friend, so it was also a sad occasion. I can see why the Home Town show has been so successful. There are a lot of really nice houses in the area with character and charm. It's a destination that definitely needs to be on your bucket list if you love the show. Also, I'm joined by a very special guest and fan of the show! #HomeTownHGTV #Laurel #Mississippi #HGTV #eternity #gospel #memorial #boondocking

I have finally started my book reading list for 2021 with two novels that are arguably very different for me. The first book is "Nomadland," which is the subject of a new film on nomad life that is getting a lot of attention. The second is the dystopian novel “This Perfect Day” by Ira Leven, who is also the author of Rosemary’s Baby, a horrifying journey into a future. On the face of it the two genres of novels don't seem to have much in common, but when you dig a bit deeper I think they do. On today's episode of Rolling Home we'll discuss why.
