Due to circumstances beyond our control the Scott, Jerry, and Cody couldn't get together this week to record the normal podcast. On this week's Sipping Separately the boys read a passage from a book or other text and discuss why they picked that piece of literature
Scott read Francisco d’Anconia's famous "Money Speach" from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged while drinking Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey
Jerry read the Col. William Travis letter from the Battle of the Alamo of 1836 as well as a letter from a Mexican solider on the side of Santa Anna while sipping on Blackheart Rum
Cody read from The Power to Transform by Chris Majer and John Brant while drinking Screwball Peanut Butter Whisky
Today's show concept was inspired by The Scholars & Iron Podcast If you're not listening to Joe's podcast stop what you're doing and subscribe now.

On this week's episode of Rolling Rocks Radio Scott, Cody, and Jerry talk about the odd things you find in gas stations (and their side effects), Scott and Jerry share stories from 29 Palms and Camp Jejune (Scott as a contractor and Jerry as a Marine), and Cody signs up for a tournament and forgets about it.
This week's fantasy MMA matchup was brought by Cody and we debated prime Daniel Cormier vs Alistar Overeem during the "Ubereem" era.
Cody also brought the bottle this week and we drank Legent Whisky from Beam Suntory. This was a great bottle and we all enjoyed it.
As mentioned, Friend of the show Nick Lowary has his first pro BJJ fight on January 24th at Submission FC American Warrior Superfight. You can get tickets at the link below. Be sure to put Nick's name in the comments section so he can get his cut of the gate

On this week of Rolling Rocks Radio we review the Darksider Challenge and drink Tin Cup Whisky.
The Darksider Challenge was a way for Cody, Scott, and Jerry to keep growing while still spending time with family over the Christmas and New Year holiday. Each member of the podcast had to come up with a challenge that they, and the rest of the team, had to complete before January 3rd.
Scott's Challenge - Scott challenged the team to start and finish a book by the end of the challenge period. It could be as little as 100 pages and could be read on either paper or e-reader, but the team had to READ the book. Audio books were not allowed.
Scott picked - "Your Best Year Ever" by Michael Hyatt
Cody picked - "Musashi's Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi (Translated by Stephen F. Kaufman)
Jerry picked - "Fortitude: American Resilience in the Era of Outrage" by Dan Crenshaw
Jerry's Challenge - All of the Rolling Rocks Radio team have been writing for Nathan's website Barbarian Rhetoric. Jerry challenged each of the team to have a new article written and ready to be proof read by the rest of the team by January 3rd. These articles are now live on Barbarian Rhetoric!!
Cody's article - Forging Fatherhood to Combat an Epidemic
Jerry's article - “New Year New Me” To A Father’s Redemption
Scott's article - Unconventional Balance Act Of Life and Work
Cody's Challenge - Cody challenged the team to go thru a 10 day bible study, with discussion at the end of each day's assignment. This was done thre the YouVersion Bible App or Bible.com.
The first plan was UNCOMMEN: Husband and the second was UNCOMMEN: Husbands Part 2
We also covered Jerry's fantasy MMA Match up of this week - Mark Coleman -VS- Cain Velasquez
Cody is tagged to provide the matchup for next week!

On this week's episode of Rolling Rocks Radio we welcome Total Defense Martial Arts purple belt, assistant coach, and philosopher Matt Skretta. Jerry was out sick this week so Scott and Cody had to hold down the fort and they had a wide ranging discussion with Matt about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Of course), Stoicism, Transhuminism, and why pilots love old school mechanical stuff. Listen closely and you'll also hear Matt's tips for world travel.
This episode's bottle was Old Forester 100 Proof Rye, which was excelent!
A shout out to Zen Pencils who Scott mentioned during the show. The comic mentioned, which was inspired by a quote from Mark Twain, can be found here

We also discuss the fights last week, how Jake and Logan Paul are equally useless and interchangeable, what it takes to pass the "Jerry Test", and Scott plays Sister Mary Marguerite and surprises Jerry and Cody with a pop quiz.
This episode also debuts the new "Fantasy MMA Matchup" feature that we'll do every episode we don't have a guest

This week on Rolling Rocks Radio Cody, Jerry, and Scott get into the realm of the fantastic and discuss their fantasy MMA match-ups. The rules were simple; Any two MMA competitors (regardless of federation) in their prime, Any rule set, at a comparable weight class, who would win, and why.
The guys came up with some great matchups that spanned time, federation, and continent. This could be an ongoing series, because everyone had more ideas than we had recording time.
This weeks bottle was a special edition from our Ohio brethren, Old Overholt 114. This was a special Ohio only 2020 release that Scott picked up on his last trip up north.

Rolling Rocks Radio is proud to welcome back the Warmaster himself, Nathan Farnsworth, AKA SteelJanz! This is the third installment of the ongoing crossovers between Rolling Rocks Radio and The Barbarian Rhetoric Podcast!
On the show the boys introduced Cody to the Warmaster and discussed Brother Cody's appearance on The Barbarian Rhetoric Podcast, Cody's first article for BR, and what's coming up for BR.
We also got funny and discussed what happens when people mistakenly use "Urban Dictionary" terms mistakenly in real life and when we've all had to explain when "That word doesn't mean what you think it does".
The bottle for this episode is Creek Water whisky from Mystery Farms and Distillery in partnership with HipHop artist YalaWolf

On this Episode Rolling Rocks Radio is honored to have as a special guest Sensei Jay Haynes, the Filipino Martial Arts Coach at Total Defense Martial Arts!! Jay has a long history in the martial arts, not only as a practitioner, but as a coach, gym owner, competitor, and evangelist. Scott, Jerry, and Cody talked to Jay about his history in martial arts, how and why he got started, and what we as martial artists need to do to increase the reach of our passions.
Since Jay cannot taste neither the fermentation of grape, nor of wheat (Name that movie) we're having Lyres American Malt. Lyres has a full range of nonalcoholic spirits and can be found at https://lyres.com/

On this episode we have brother Cody Carter back on and are excited to announce that he's accepted a permanent spot as a full time co host of th podcast! Cody has been a guest multiple times and his MMA knowledge, passion for BJJ, and great attitude is going to make a great addition to Scott and Jerry's misanthropy and sarcasm.
Tonight Scott and Jerry introduced Cody to Tom Deblass, mulitple time BJJ and MMA competitor and champion. Scott dove into the alternate history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the legacy of Oswado Fadda, the other father of BJJ, and Cody is asked to talk about the differences between starting martial arts as a young man and then restarting as a more mature individual.
