The thing about art is that it has always had this effect that you can look at a still picture and it invokes emotion in us. Films can do the same thing in just a simple image that gives us a hint to what the film may be about. Today we talk about some of our favorites when it comes to posters and how a plain image makes us excited for a movie. As always we wanna hear your favorites that you can't help but hang on the wall as we rank our top 5 movie posters.
The journey to power can be met with a lot of different obstacles, but when your this untouchable no one can stop you. In this '90s Organized crime film we follow Frank White who has just been released from prison as he looks to become the drug kingpin of New York. A fairly underrated crime film for its time has a full cast of up and comers that we consider legends today with a unique story. While it might not be the best to come out in its time, it is definitely worth the watch as you realize he is not the problem, just a businessman
Someone's beliefs are theirs alone and no one should be judged for it, unless it happens to be a cult that wishes to burn you inside a giant wooden man. As a police officer travels to a small island to solve a missing child report he stumbles upon something much more than that. While some may say this is a bit dry of a film, you can't deny the importance to cult films that this had in films. Until you see it for yourself, "you'll simply never understand the true meaning of sacrifice".
In films it can come in the form of a metaphor, a coping mechanism, or even a way to flush out a character, sometimes, however, it's just a huge meal after a long day or maybe just a light snack while bored, either way, we know it as food. Today we talk about all the differences that we see in films when food is brought in and how it effects the story itself. As always we would love to hear your favorite cream puffs or meatball scenes as we take a look at food, in films.
One of the greatest Sci-Fi films to ever surface left us with more questions than answers, but did we truly need them? As a prequel to Alien, we follow a crew of scientists traveling to a distant planet to make contact with the beings who created us. This film not only gave us no answers to anything but also created a new confusing timeline as well. Despite this, we get a fantastic looking film with a great cast and actual great tension leaving us liking the film, and ultimately, "this is what we choose to believe"
A world that is not unlike our own, possibly even just a few years in the making is a term that could be very positive in films. The idea of flying cars and robot butlers is a magical idea, but what about the other side of things, the darker more realistic side. Today we talk about films that perfectly capture a future world in which all hope is lost and survival is key. As always we want you to let us know what some of your favorites are, as we discuss what makes a good dystopian film
When you mix a large cast of actors, a plot revolving around a massive diamond but also pig eating procedures and bare-knuckle boxing, you get Snatch. A film that feels very dated as a 2000 style comedy/action story, you almost can't help but have fun with this as the multiple stories split off and remerge by the end though. Whether you feel like this is a British-style early Tarantino film or a jumbled story, we just need to ask, "do you like dags?"
As a film lover, the best thing you can do is share a film with a friend, loved one, or even a stranger who is willing to listen. Today we do this as we go into what we look for when someone tells us to check out a film that is new to us. as always, we would love to hear how you like to check out new films and we discuss what makes a good recommendation for a film.
During the '80s, there was one film that stood the test of time of being so obscure, that it's actually pretty good. Today we follow the story of a Detroit cop who in a bad firefight is created into the ultimate crime-fighting machine. With some great practical effects and action, of course, you have to trade something out with weird dialogue and acting. However, this is truly a cult classic in its own right and if you think not, well then "Your move, creep"
Perhaps something that sticks with you more in a film isn't the actors, the set designs, or even the story sometimes, but rather the lines that are delivered that stays with you even after the credits roll. Today we talk about the quotes that have stayed with us over the years that we love so much. As always let us know what are some of your favorite quotes as we yell across the room to each other every Predator quote from Jesse Ventura and give you our favorite movie quotes.
