Years ago, adding pigs to our homestead was my idea. Thankfully my husband took it over and is doing a much better job then I was. Pigs are so easy to raise and with a 70% dressing yield you can get so much meat off one animal! Today I want to chat with you about the cost breakdown and savings when you raise your own meat.
I mention Tractor Supply in this episode. They are a great resource for all your fencing, feeding, and general livestock supplies. Make sure to use the LINK for your next Tractor Supply purchase.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:25-26 I know that God believes we are. The difficulty is that often we are too busy or distracted of our fears and worry, thus blocking our sight and we are blinded to Gods provisions. Today let's chat about waiting for God to open new doors!
Make sure to check our Rooted In for my new Blog Series starting Saturday - What are we spending? As things get a bit tighter for everyone, I always find it helpful to see how other's do finances. So I want to share what we are doing!

"A jack of all trades is often a master of none, but is still better then a master of one!" Did you know that was the whole saying? I didn't! I always thought that because I dabble is so many things that it was a bad thing. Like why can't I just be great at one thing!?! But the reality is we can't compare ourselves to those around us because God has created us to be unique! We need to make the choice to learn from others, rather then begrudge them because they have what we don't. A great way to practice that is through raising chickens and working in your kitchen! Come along with me today as we chat about the lessons I've learned!
Check out Tractor Supply for all your poultry needs!
Make sure to hop over to Rooted In for some great reading materials and soon more information about raising chickens!
Finally, now that summer is in full swing, have you upgraded your footware? Make sure to check out MyPillow for some new summer sandels!
Baked Whole Frozen Chicken
Take a frozen chicken, place on a dry pan (add no water) season (I like Rosemary, Onion Powder and Salt) bake at 425 degrees for 20 mins uncovered. Then cover it in foil with the shiny side down, drop the heat to 350 degrees and bake about 3 hours or until the meat thermometer says 165 degrees internally. ENJOY!
Intolerance is one of those hijacked words! It is made to be like such a terrible thing, yet as Christians we are technically intolerant! We are told that sin should not be tolerated and therefore we should be intolerant of it. So how do we do that? How do we see in black and white rather then many shades of grey? Let's chat about that today!
I mention Father's Day! A few ideas...

For many years I thought that because I was a high school ag teacher... that was all that I could do. But we have been given so many gifts, each one unique to each person. It is important to explore those gifting areas so that we can tap into the doors that God is opening for us!
I want to thank mypillow.com for working with me within this episode! I am loving our mypillow sheets and can't wait to get some new towels! Make sure to hop on over to mypillow.com/rootedin and use the code ROOTEDIN for up to 66% off your purchase!

Exploring your Spiritual Gifts
Emotions are like a two year old... they can be the life of the party, but you never actually put them in charge! Emotions often get a bad rap but they were created by God and they have a purpose. We just have to find a way to use them in a balanced fashion! Many of the ideas discussed today stem from the discussions our local Bible Study where we are focusing on the Mama Bear Apologetics. Make sure to check it out!
Did you know that when you leave a comment or review it helps my messages reach more people!?! I love to hear from you!
Check out RootedIn for new homemaking, homeschooling and homesteading posts each week!
Happiness doesn't have to be complicated, yet we often make it so. We have to find ways to turn the little, everyday things, into experiences that build us up and help us store up sunshine for those rainy days when it can be hard to find the bright side.
Check out Rooted In for some more detail on the ideas I mentioned today!
Thank you to Tractor Supply for working with me in today's episode! Make sure to use the link above in your next purchase.

Why isn't God doing something about this mess... I think it is time for our culture to take ownership for our part in creating the mess. Today's message is meant to be an encouragement but also a bit of hard truth. There is only 1 God and there is only 1 Truth. It is time that we realize we aren't stepping up to the plate with these 2 hard and fast facts and that we need to do better.
Make sure to check out Rooted In for the transcript / blog post of this later on this week!

It's time to dig a bit deeper! I felt like God was really pulling on me for this one today! When we talk about shaping our home we need to realize that often the reason we do what we do has to do with how we were raised which can be good or maybe rather it is shaped in spite of how we were raised. I did not grow up in what I would consider a toxic home by any means! My parents weren't perfect, but who is... however, we can be affected by former generations! So today I want to talk about that!
If you would like to share your thoughts with me, I would love to hear them! Leave a comment, a rating, or send me a message at [email protected].
