  • Alex K / Rotations 3
I'm Alex K, I co-present and produce a show called the Greek Resistance Bulletin on Tuesdays at 10:00pm. We cover news about Greek politics, social movements and the extra-parliamentary left. My shows on Rotations are an enjoyable self-indulgence in that I try not to restrict myself to explicitly political and Greek music that I would normally play on GRB. I'm into all sorts of fuzzy/lo-fi/weird/sounds from and influenced by underground movements from the late 60s onwards. These movements breathed the same fumes as the long waves of class, political and social struggle so what I play is political but maybe indirectly.

  • Karina Aedo-Aguilera: Ups 'n' Downs
My name's Karina and I consider myself a bit of an all-rounder vollie at 3CR, also helping produce City Limits on a Wednesday morning. This week on Rotations I played a bit of an emotionally high 'n' low selection of music, which I reckon is pretty reflective of the turbulent emotional time we find ourselves in.   My favourite track from today is "Another Spring", one which I feel encapsulates the perspective that has come with the slow move into springtime this lockdown.   Visit https://3cr.org.au/rotations for a full list of previous Rotations programs and hosts.  Tracklist: Mood Ring - TrueMendous Elocution - Sleaford Mods Heels - Billy Nomates Rainbow - Boris Featuring Michio Kurihara Before the Ship Sinks - Traz Feat. DJ Pierre, Prod. Ramzee Introvert - Little Simz The Dancer - PJ Harvey Another Spring - Nina Simone Eleggua (Intro) - Ibeyi Piuke (Corazón) -  Luanko Feat. Santaferia Point and Kill - Little Simz Feat. Obongjayar Fear No Man - Little Simz

  • Pilar Aguilera: in conversation with Abe Dunovits
Pilar Aguilera first came to 3CR as a 17-year-old, first as a volunteer, then as a producer and presenter. In 2001 she worked as the first Ethnic Resource Coordinator for the station. Pilar joined the Committee of Management in 2018, as well as the Programming Sub-Committee; she is now Chairperson. She has worked in book publishing for 20 years and is a committed social justice/human rights activist.  For this Rotations, she interviewed partner and musical genius Abe Dunovits. Abe has contributed with music to a few programs on 3CR; writing the theme music to Completada Bailable as well as Radio Capucha as well as being a guest on various programs. Abe has been making music for a few decades.  There is a musical melange in his mind that drives him to create triumphant music, literature and art, which has been described as unconventional, inspired, avant-garde, luminary and memorable.   Visit Abe's website http://abrahamdunovits.com/  You can also go to https://3cr.org.au/rotations for a full list of hyperlinks, as well as previous Rotations programs and hosts. We played the following tracks: Sometimes - Abe Dunovits (From new album released in 2020 Sigh of the Times) Corruption - Ray Unit (One of the first songs Abe recorded under alter ego Ray Unit)  Live in the Moment - New Cosmick System (One of Abe’s bands, released 2011) Medio Mundo - Funkalleros (Abe’s band formed in 2004, a cumbia-style song on album Casserole of Humanity which was not released online)  Obstinacy - Ray Unit (Samples from brass music, not online) Lockdown - Abe Dunovits (new improv album Transparent, released 2021)  Say It - Abe Dunovits (new improv album Transparent, released 2021)

  • Meg Kimber: APRA Edition (100% Australian Artists)
I am Meg Kimber, I co-host City Limits at 9am on Wednesdays on 3CR. I'm also a musician.  This week is APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) week, where every show must report the music played for licensing, copyright and royalty-related purposes.   For APRA week I messaged everyone I know and asked them what they thought the best Aussie music was right now. I learned about some awesome new music and put together a playlist that featured many rad First Nations Women artists.   Visit https://3cr.org.au/rotations for a full list of previous Rotations programs and hosts.

  • Kev Gaynor / Lazy Sunday Afternoon
This week's show is presented by Kev Gaynor of The SUWA Show.  I've always wanted to hear "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" by the Small Faces on a lazy Sunday arvo, so it was a joy and pleasure to open my first Rotations show with that song. However when it comes to finding the most interesting music these days I'm attracted to predominantly local, female artists. I don't why but the tunes our local girls are coming out with are just the best. Maybe it's got something to do with empowered expression at this particular moment in history, or maybe I just haven't been listening hard enough previously. Anyway it's a lovely time to be listening for new audio enhancement.

  • Alex K / Rotations 2 / Franco Battiato Tribute Show
I'm Alex K, I co-present and produce a show called the Greek Resistance Bulletin on Tuesdays at 10:00pm. This program is a mini-tribute to Francesco "Franco" Battiato, legendary Italian singer-songwriter, composer, and filmmaker who passed away on the 18th May 2021. Focusing on a small part of his decades-long music career, we move through tracks by and associated with Battiato spanning from the sixties' musica leggera, to experimental electronic sounds inspired by the 1969 Hot Autumn strikewave in Italy, pop tracks from his mid-seventies group Telaio Magnetico, and others.  L'amore è partito / Franco Battiato (1965) Le reazioni / Franco Battiato (1967) Energia / Franco Battiato (from the album Fetus, 1972) Beta / Franco Battiato (from the album Pollution, 1972) Areknames / Franco Battiato (from the album Pollution, 1972) Aria di Rivoluzione / Franco Battiato (from the album Sulle corde di Aries, 1973) Propietad Prohibida / Franco Battiato (from the album "Clic", 1974) Il Santissimo Calice / Michele Fedrigotti & Danilo Lorenzini (from the album I Fiori del Sole, 1979, produced by Franco Battiato) Parte II / Telaio Magnetico, Battiato's band (from the live album Live 1975) Summer on a Solitary Beach / Franco Battiato (from the album La Voce del Padrone, 1981)
