When your mind is right, that’s what will correct you. Habits and actions don’t give us the power to conquer sin. Remember who Christ has declared you to be. We know we need to fight sin, but how? The Bible teaches us to fight from the position of our identity as forgiven children of God.
We’re forgiven and declared righteous. By faith, we receive the righteousness of Christ and we are no longer slaves of sin. Now, we are slaves of righteousness and are constantly at war with sin.
Instead of condemnation, we can walk by the Spirit of God and submit to Him instead of our sinful desires. This is why it is so important to abide in Christ through prayer and Bible study. We will fall (sometimes a lot). But the Holy Spirit in the heart of a Christian will not let sin have the final say.
When God looks at you, He sees you through the righteousness of Jesus. This is the power that moves us towards sanctification on a daily basis. The core of who we are has been transformed and we’re going to look more like Jesus every day.
