We engage in some legwork investigating how shoes and boots can make or break your health. We tour our shoemaking department, look at the pros and cons of cowboy boots, see some unusual and curious podiatric pathologies, and review interesting experimental shoes under development.

We discover inspiration and a call to action in the fold-out pages of Low-Power DJ Quarterly: a set of blueprints for the Perfect House for a Radio DJ. In the space of an hour and a half, we lay a foundation, call in the carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, and interior decorators, and have a new home, with 3 minutes left to spare, in which we build a sailboat with the leftover scraps.

Cracklin’ Jane is on location here at the International Cowboy Symposium, along with cowboys and eminent cowboy-ologists from all over the world. The theme of this year’s symposium is: Who are we, anyway? An exploration of the different ethnic groups making up our cowboy brethren. The convention also features a number of workshops and panel discussions. All in 78-RPM splendor.

The annual WSHD Round the World Gala Concert, narrated by Cracklin’ Jane. Our concert takes place at Symphony Hall (known to the locals as “Old Rusty”) in an Alternative Universe Eastport. We asked prominent bandleaders from the 78 RPM era to take a beloved classical piece and arrange it as they would any of their other popular recordings. We hear some compelling updates on works by Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Bizet, Ravel, Schubert, Grieg and many other great classical composers. A riot breaks out after The Blue Danube is massacred by Spike Jones, and the Washington County Sheriff Department is called to restore order. Then, after everyone goes home, Richard Diamond, Private Detective takes the Private Eye Test.

We are broadcasting today from the research department of the Oceanside Tattler, the easternmost tabloid in the US. In an effort to fulfill their mission statement of Promoting Social Bonds Through Gossip, they have created focus groups of some the town’s best-known tongue-waggers. Back in the laboratory, they attached electrodes to these subjects to monitor their brain activity while being exposed to juicy gossip tidbits. Let’s find out how the superior medial prefrontal cortex lights up in response to scandal, dirt, hearsay and whispers.

Inventor Cracklin Jane tries out her latest invention: the Alpha Wave Phototonic P-N Junction Accelerator. Now, just what can this baby do? Well, it picks up very sensitive energy waves and by the use of a special secret algorithm, it can be used to understand the non-verbal speech of animals and insects. So we headed right out that door to pound the pavements of a small fishing village in Maine and conducted some man-on-the street interviews with the wildlife that parties there. Listen and learn what the animals in our midst are saying and thinking about us.

We surreptitiously broadcast from the completely-sold-out Oceantown International Film Festival. Luckily, somebody left the loading dock door propped open, and we snuck in and stood in the back of some historical lectures and feature films from eight different countries. All in splendid 78-RPM fidelity.
