Rounding Down with Chid

We're joined by the great George (@LittleHorrorPHL) this week to talk about archiving, specifically archiving B movies and Vinegar Syndrome.

But first let's answer some important questions!

Did Chid & Sigh curse Philadelphia sports teams at least twice?

To answer more questions we play a rousing game of "How many strip clubs can we name in Providence, RI?"

We get into movieswith George and discuss some our history with B-Movies and horror in general. Also talk about Mystery Science Theater and whether or not we like watching movies in that setting or prefer to watch movies with friends and add our own funny commentary.

What kind of options for services stream B-Movies.

George gives us some of his favorite movies, spoils a movie from 1982 and explains the "Face Hugger Dick" in the movie Extro.

Plus George Romero, James Bond, Sigh's Blair Witch Project story, and much more!

Chid & Sigh catch up after winter break and discuss all the things they've been dying to ask one another.

Our gracious host invites Sigh down to Philly for "fresh" tamales and a gift that is not a greased-up pole (surprisingly!) Sigh finally got Covid he discusses some of his symptoms including the seldom talked about 'dick too hard.'

Is Chid a covid truther?

Finally we get down to business and talk about Thrice's surprise release a re-imagining of their 2003 record 'The Artist in the Ambulance" - https://open.spotify.com/album/0fbix8RZLPYtBy4UcMzoIx?si=U6TJ43aTR-KQJVdrF4qCPQ

Of course Chid & Sigh are on polar opposite sides of their opinions on this record, Chid loves it and Sigh had higher expectations.

Naturally this leads to a conversation about Hatebreed which is a band everyone associates with Thrice.

We also discuss Providence RI's answer to the X games years after the X Games started, the Gravity Games!

Plus Sigh reviews Bobby's Burger Palace.

You gotta listen to this one so you don't miss all the jokes that are funny!

Our new friend @ItsLuckyPurr joins us to discuss one of her & Chid's favorite childhood films 'The Chipmunk Adventure.'

The Chipmunk Adventure is a 1987 American animated musical-comedy film based on the Saturday-morning cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks. Directed by Janice Karman and written by Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr., it stars the voices of Karman, Bagdasarian, and Dody Goodman, and follows the Chipmunks and the Chipettes as they go on a hot air balloon race around the world that is the cover for a diamond smuggling ring.

There are lots of spoilers for this film in this episode, if you don't want us to ruin a movie for you that came out in 1987 we suggest watching the movie (you can find it if you search on vimeo for free) before listening to this episode.

We rate the movie on the Rounding Down scale of A to Z.

At the end of the episode there is a very amazing conversation about the band Creed, so you're going to have to listen to the whole episode to hear that. You definitely don't want to miss it!

Mangini (@ManginiInABottle) comes in hot to Round Down on moving, he has many anti-moving takes mostly because he created his own guitar gear-filled prison.

He came on to talk about his new favorite band Karate.

Karate is an American band, formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 by Geoff Farina, Eamonn Vitt and Gavin McCarthy, with Jeff Goddard joining in 1995. The band split up in 2005 before reuniting in 2022.

The band is characterized by fusion of indie rock, emo, post-hardcore, post-rock and jazz, with the jazz influence becoming more dominant in later releases.

In additon to glowing reviews with less than glowing A to Z letter grades from Chid & Mangini, we also play a game called 'Let's see how many christmas songs we can name' and of course Chid cheats!!!?!

We also get very patriotic to end things, you're not going to want to miss this episode with our friend Mangini!

This week we finally welcome the Dad Pack on Rounding Down (well, two members, the other members were too busy Daddin' it up to join). Bruce and Carne call in to talk about being dads, how to know if it's actually your kid, and how much this shit is gonna cost ya (a friggin BOATLOAD amirite?!!!??!)

It's a serious and heartfelt episode and if you think Chid should leave this show and pivot to a parenting podcast full time, let him know.  He's obviously not funny or good at comedy.

Wowowowowow. This week we unearth a long-lost (never before released) episode we recorded with Fidrych or Die Tryin' from Deadspin. It looks like he once again abandoned Twitter before this was released (a shame!)

He hates us and the show, but loves talking about freedom radio. What is freedom radio? It's radio for real patriots who would never illegally burn a CD from a not-for-profit college radio station, that's what!

Plus we're briefly joined by Judy Garland and Chid explains "the Rounding Down difference," the key to why this whole podcast even exists (which has never been explained on-air previously).
