As Christians, we celebrate the fact that our God is a God who is overflowing in generosity. Not only has He given us all that we have and enjoy, but He has given us Himself. As His followers, members of His family through faith, God calls us to follow His example. As we wrap up the series "Overflow", we will look at what it means for us to live a life that is overflowing in generosity, as well.

The people you meet are at different places on their spiritual journey. Some are unreceptive, and others are willing to listen. Some are still seeking. Being effective in your witness means knowing where they are and how to engage. Join us as Pastor Mark continues our sermon series, Overflow, as he preaches on Overflowing in Witness.

How thoughtful are you about the clothes you put on? Do you spend a lot of time planning and coordinating, or do you just throw on whatever is on the top of the pile? The Apostle Paul uses specific language when he instructs us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Join us as we continue in Colossians with a message from Pastor Mark about "Putting on the New".

In the first two chapters of Colossians, Paul lays out a variety of truths that would help the Christians back then, and each of us today, keep "Jesus at the Center" of all that we say and do. Having explained those truths, Paul then turns the corner in chapter 3 and begins to explain in practical ways how to live out those truths every day, throughout the day. By the works of the Holy Spirit and focused on all God has done for us by His grace and love in Jesus, we can experience the joy and blessing of "Living for Jesus".

Most of you would agree that God's Word is true. We desire to follow Jesus' plan and direction, and we want Him to be at the center of our lives. The early church in Colossae believed that as well, but they felt they needed to add human regulations like, don't touch this or don't taste that. They also added ways to earn God's Love. What about you? Are you grounded in Jesus alone, or do you find yourself on shaky ground, influenced by our culture? We often have conversations about "the best." We talk about the best restaurant in Cleveland, the greatest all-time basketball player, and the #1 place to vacation. For those of us who have come to know Jesus revealed in the Scriptures, we are convinced that He is the best. There is no one like Him... no one comes close. The 1st chapter of Colossians describes Jesus as being before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Like the Christians at Colossae, we need to be alert to, not just the threat of false teaching, but the subtle addition of worldly solutions to the problem of our sin. Thankfully, Paul's letter to the Colossians addresses this danger reminding us that Jesus at the center is the answer for everything. He is supreme. He is sufficient. He alone saves us and changes each of us into His new creation.
