Welcome to "Rapidly Rotating Records", Glenn Robison's weekly, one-hour radio program of "toe-tapping music from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and 30s", broadcast Sunday evening at 6:00 PM over KISL FM 88.7 Avalon.
This week's show is so packed with great music that when I got through with the show, it went over 2 minutes long. Rather that cut a song, I decided to cut some of the commentary. When that wasn't enough, I cut the promos. When even that wasn't enough, I trimmed the intro, and managed to squeeze it into an hour. On this week's brand new edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we're going to fulfill a request for Hattie McDaniel, and celebrate the birthdays of Henry Busse, Grant Clarke and Archie Gottler. And, for the first time on the show, we'll have a birthday tribute to Douglas Furber. As always, simply click on the link below to instantly stream and/or download the show. And your comments, requests and topic suggestions are always welcome. The first and last records on the show are not in the greatest of shape but I hope you'll bear with me.
Here's the complete playlist:
TOPIC: Hattie McDaniel
Dentist Chair Blues, Part 1 – Hattie McDaniel and "Dentist Jackson"
TOPIC: Henry Busse
Nuthin' But – Paul Whiteman AHO
TOPIC: Grant Clarke
Shake It And Break It – Lanin's Southern Serenaders / Sam Lanin, vocal effect

And finally, please consider becoming a member of KISL. A basic membership is just $20 and a premium membership is $50. While most of you are not on Catalina Island and can't take advantage of the merchant discounts and offers that go with membership, you'll be supporting community radio on Catalina Island and beyond. I am not paid for the show, nor is it underwritten. I do the show because I love the music and the people, stories and culture behind it. Thanks!
