RUSH: So, I’m looking at CNN, and their chyron graphic right now at the bottom of their screen is, “Soon Trump to Hold News Conference Amid Fallout from Book.” I will bet you that’s not what his press conference is about. I’ll bet it’s about something else entirely. Now, there may be some questions about the book, but if I’m CNN…

It’s gotta be real hard to get out of bed and go to work every day if I’m CNN. You know why? Because everything they’ve tried has blown up in their face. You know how I know? Donald Trump is still president. Donald Trump is still in the Oval Office. He’s still president. He’s still calling the shots. Donald Trump is still the man with the power in Washington, D.C.

CNN has devoted its existence to getting Donald Trump. They have failed miserably! CNN does not have one success story to tell, and yet here they are, getting up every day and failing famously. They’re failing publicly, they are failing right in in front of our eyes, and they apparently don’t care. They’re gonna get up every day and continue to do what they’re doing, which is totally embarrassing themselves.

RUSH: You know, folks, I’m old enough to remember and many of you are, too, old enough to remember Bill Clinton got caught shtupping the intern, Monica Lewinsky. The blue stained dress. The cigar. (doing imitation) “I never had sex with that woman, not a single time, never, Ms. Lewinsky, that her name, whatever. I gotta get back to work to the American people. Screw you.” And Madeleine Albright runs out there, “We believe him. If he said he didn’t do it, he didn’t do it.” Hillary Clinton: A vast right-wing conspiracy made my husband hire this intern and call the pizza delivery place. He didn’t do it.

This is our 30th anniversary of this program, and I have to tell you, I have been so conflicted all day about how to deal with this. My heart rate monitor on my watch says my heart rate’s been elevated about 10 to 15 beats above normal because of all the excitement and everything about this day. RUSH: We have former Prime Minister Netanyahu on the phone with us from his Knesset office in Jerusalem. We only have ten minutes, so I want to get right to it. First, welcome to the program, and great to talk to you again, sir.

NETANYAHU: Well, it’s very good to talk to you, Rush.

RUSH: All right. Some observers in the United States are sensing a new Israel here: less willing to commit to total victory as in the past, on the basis of the way the current conflict with the Hezbollah group’s being waged. Is that true?

NETANYAHU: I hope not. I’ve given my support as opposition leader to the government. The people of Israel, overwhelmingly, have given their support for victory, that is to remove the threat. Much as the US during the Cuban missile crisis said, “Those missiles have to go,” we say, “Hezbollah and those missiles have to go,” because otherwise there will be no peace for Lebanon, no peace for Israel, no peace for anyone.

RUSH: I just got this, and I’m not able to study it and really make a whole lot of sense out of it. It’s a Pew survey on who watches television and what the partisan political split of various TV show audiences is and all. You get down to what the Pew — P-e-w — survey of this stuff, you get down to one section, who’s got the smartest, who has the most knowledgeable audience, and on television — just listen to what this says. ‘On television, The O’Reilly Factor, has the most knowledgeable audience, 27% of the audience are college grads, which matches the national average,’ but, but:

Only three audiences in the Pew survey scored higher on high knowledge than O’Reilly at his Factor TV show. Regular readers of The New Yorker and the Atlantic, regular Rush Limbaugh listeners, and regular Weekly Standard and New Republic readers. I don’t know if there’s anybody above that. I don’t have that, because radio and this stuff is not part of the survey, at least from the website that I’m reading this from. But I have always known it. I have always known that you people are among the most knowledgeable, engaged, informed, and educated people listening to any media in the country today. I think I found documented evidence of it here from Pew, but it’s just a little aside in a story about television audiences.

RUSH: All right. The question is on the table: “Why is it that liberal Jews — Hollywood Jews, Jewish people, liberals all over the country — don’t seem to join the fight for Israel?” There are many theories out there, but the simplest explanation, folks — and it’s going to sound simplistic, and oftentimes trust the simplistic because the simplistic is right on the money. Most liberals, whatever their faith, put their liberalism first. Liberalism is a more powerful religion than any other, to the committed liberal. In the world of liberalism, Israel is too powerful. Israel is using jets against these defenseless little backwards terrorists. That’s not fair. Israel is richer. Israel is allied by the United States. This is just not right.

RUSH: AP: ‘The City Council brushed aside warnings from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to approve an ordinance that makes Chicago the biggest city in the nation to require big-box retailers to pay a ‘living wage.’ The ordinance, which passed 35-14 Wednesday after three hours of impassioned debate, requires mega-retailers to pay wages of at least $10 an hour plus $3 in fringe benefits,’ $3 in fringe benefits? ‘by mid-2010. It would only apply to companies with more than $1 billion in annual sales and stores of at least 90,000 square feet. ‘It’s trying to get the largest companies in America to pay decent wages,’ Ald[erman] Toni Preckwinkle said.’

No, it’s not.

‘The minimum wage in Illinois is $6.50 an hour and the federal minimum is $5.15. Mayor Richard M. Daley and others warned the living wage proposal would drive jobs and desperately needed development from some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods and lead giants like Wal-Mart to abandon the city.’ It’s exactly right. Wal-Mart will ring the city. Wal-Mart will surround the city, but they will not go there. (Laughing.) This has nothing to do with a ‘livable wage.’ This has nothing to do with making big companies pay a livable wage. This is all about unions. This is all about the Democrats being loyal to unions. I think the ACORN group was behind this, a huge liberal group.
