The underlying principle in the Scriptures is that we should never put the Lord our God to the test. There are so many scriptural examples to show that. Many times when we test God, we find ourselves falling into a test. We should just be contented in trusting God's goodness to work for us irrespective of the circumstances. When Gideon tested God, he was not prepared when God asked him to face an army of thousands with only 300 men. Now that was a real test when the Tester got tested.

Giving Tithes and Offering is a topic that has generated heated debates amongst believers. While God expects believers to support the activities of the local church and support the ministers of the Gospel, giving for godly purposes should never be seeing as a way of trading with God. While God will cause all grace to abound so that at all times we shall have all we need, we do not give so that we can manipulate God to give us. In the church era we give from a cheerful heart because we love God and we know all we have and shall ever have is from him. God should not only be God of the 10% but also the 90%.

We serve a miracle working God and as Jesus assured his disciples before He left them, signs and wonders will follow those who believe. There are instances God will display his presence in our midst through signs and wonders. This He did through Moses in Egypt as well as some of his Prophets and Apostles. The signs should not be self serving and should be for the greater good. They should also point those who witness them to God.

It is possible to get a sign from God regarding his will on a matter without necessarily testing him. The sign should however be for a matter where his will is not explicitly and should not be self serving. It should also be a sign that will leave no doubt that God is leading you.

Our faith in God that He will act in our best interests should never be doubted. However, God has provided us with common sense that calls on us to run away from danger. When evil knocks on our doors, God's help may come by giving you the wisdom to run away or hide from that evil. Moses parents were commended for having faith. Why? Because they decided to hide baby Moses from danger. Don't get yourself into problems willingly.

The scriptures advises us to pray and ask God not to lead us into temptation but to deliver us from evil. Jesus knew of our fallible nature and how vulnerable humans are in the face of temptation. Unfortunately for many of us, we deliberately take ourselves where temptations are. When we deliberately and consciously take ourselves where we are likely to be tempted, we are tempting God and we shall find ourselves failing.

Getting used to God is another way we test him. We must always maintain the boundaries of honour and respect as we walk with God. He will pour his blessings on us and use us for his glory. That does not mean we are better than others and we should never get to a point where we get used to what God is doing in our lives. Serve God with humility and in fear and trembling

We test God when we fail to believe him that He will intervene for us during difficult moments even after witnessing him come through for us in the past. God opens the Red Sea in front of us so that when we get to the wilderness, we shall be able to trust him there as well. May we never forget the benefits that God pours our way and may we never test him by failing to believe that if He did it before, He will do it again!

God created everyone of us in a unique way and equipped us with unique gifting to serve his purposes in life. When we try to compare ourselves with others, we take for granted what God has given us and in doing this we put the Lord to the test. God's grace is always available in the race He has marked out for us but when we start running the race of others, grief and heartbreak is what awaits you.
