تقدّم لنا حنان الشيخ في «صاحبة الدار شهرزاد» حكايات اقتبستها من «ألف ليلة وليلة»، وأعادت كتابتها بتصرّف بل أضافت من مخيّلتها مشاهد جديدة. إنّها تحثّ القارئ على الدخول مجدّدًا إلى عوالم شهرزاد، والحكايات التي تصوّر الحياة كاملة وبكلّ تناقضاتها: الفقر والثراء، الحبّ والغدر، العدل والظلم، ومغامرات مرعبة حيث الخيال حقيقة، والحقيقة أغرب من الخيال.
