  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Corey Pelton Day 2

“Your Pathetic Self for God’s Amazing Purposes”
    Teacher: Corey Pelton

Are you weary of super-Christians who seem to have it all together and do "significant ministry" while you feel average and wonder if God can use you at all? Contrary to what we see with our eyes, what we view as our greatest weaknesses God uses as a way to minister to others. This class will investigate how being vulnerable and admitting our faults and weaknesses can actually be one of our greatest tools, in God's hands, of ministry to others.

  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Ben Griffith Day 4

    “Idolators Anonymous”
    Teacher: Ben Griffith

We are all idolators. You may not worship a little statue on your bookshelf every night (if you do, we need to talk), but chances are there's a goal, a person, a desire, or something else that has taken on god-like proportions in your life. Idols are good things or bad things that we turn into ultimate things; they're "counterfeit gods." We're very good at making them, and they're very good at ruining us. A Christian writer once said, "the secret to change is to identify and dismantle the counterfeit gods of your heart." Join us as we discover how true this is, and how the Gospel is good news for idolators.

  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Matthew Icard Day 1
    “Lies We Love To Believe”
    Teacher: Matthew Icard

Everybody hates being lied to, right? But what if I told you that
you’re actually being lied to every single day of your life? The
reality is that we live in a world and a culture that is full of
deception. We even lie to ourselves on a regular basis! And the
really scary part? We love the lies. In this breakout, we will look
at many of the lies that we believe about our identity, our
purpose, our relationships, and our salvation. We’ll also look at
the ways in which the Word of God and the gospel bring us light,
freedom, and life in the midst of deception.

  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Justin Pillsbury Day 1
“God Reigns: The Sovereignty of God”
    Teacher: Justin Pillsbury

The sovereignty of God, is it possible that this doctrine could
lead to a greater, deeper and more abiding joy? It may seem a
little more natural to say God reigns in the sweet moments of life,
but what happens when we don’t get into the school that all our
    25
friends do, or when our parents get divorced, or when our best
friend is a superior athlete, or when we become obsessed with
our body image, or when we get a cancer diagnosis or we move
to a new town? Is it possible for us to praise God in the sweet
moments of life as well as the moments it feels like He is slaying
us? This beautiful doctrine teaches us our sovereign God is in
love with us, for us and is calling us to trust Him. God is using
every moment in our lives to bring us near to Him. God’s
sovereignty enables us to not lose heart as we trust in His
guiding, sustaining, loving and all-sufficient hand. We are in the
grip of the loving Father and He will never let us go!

  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Jonathan McGuire Day 4

“Identity Crisis or Identity Deception? When Humanity & Holiness Collide”
    Teacher: Jonathan McGuire

Who are you? What makes you you? Can you be and do whatever makes you happy? Can you love whomever and whatever you want? Do you choose your identity, or is it forced on you from birth? As Christians, what is our identity, what choice do we have in the matter, and how does grace play a role? Does God love me if I identify as a girl even if I was born a boy, identify as black but was born white, or feel like an adult in a teenage body (or a teenager in an adult body)? What does my identity have to do with my humanity, and what does my humanity have to do with God's holiness? Identity may be a new topic in TV, politics, schools, and 26 churches, shaping everything we think, feel, and do, but the answers are old. We sense that who we are and why are vital, yet the voices screaming into the debate are confusing. These issues aren't easy, but clarity and certainty are possible through Christ. This class will address the issues around Identity and provide answers from Scripture on who we are, how we know, and what difference it makes one way or the other.

  • RYM 2016 HSFL2 Joey Stewart Day 1
“Freedom from the Paralysis of Doubt: How Can I Have
    the Assurance of Salvation?”
    Teacher: Joey Stewart

The most miserable person in the world is the one who doubts
the certainty of his/her salvation. “Am I really a Christian?” “Can I
be sure that God has saved me?” “Is it possible for me to lose
my salvation?” “Is there really forgiveness when I keep struggling
with the same sin over and over again, and it seems like I just
can’t give it up?” If you’ve ever asked any or all of those
questions, if your doubts are haunting you to the point that you
feel spiritually paralyzed, if you want to know the true freedom
and confidence that the gospel DOES provide, then this class is
    for you. Come and
