On May 1st, the country of Canada was consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary in light of the current pandemic, such that the Gospel for the Mass of the day was switched to John 19:25-27, which describes the final meeting involving Jesus, Mary and the Beloved Disciple before His death on the Cross. Fr. Eric reflects on the significance of this passage in the context of the Old Testament, particularly the figure of Rachel; and what this means for our identity in Christ.
