Even though the story of the man born blind (Jn 9:1-41) is typically used as an opportunity to reflect on the reality of evil and suffering in this world, Fr. Eric focuses on how the man is rejected by other people in his efforts to evangelize them; but nonetheless is pleasing to the Lord in how he collaborates with God’s grace in this regard, despite the apparent failure of the mission.
Topics include how we are called to be faithful, as opposed to successful; and to emphasize the importance of corresponding to the duty of the moment in ordinary circumstances, particularly as a means to help bring about the salvation of the world.
