Reflecting on Christ’s dialogue with Pontius Pilate (Jn 18:33-37) on the Solemnity of Christ the King, Fr. Eric speaks about the importance of abiding in the truth of Christ. Specifically, Fr. Eric talks about how the philosophy of relativism drains life of its meaning, inhibits freedom of speech, and leads us to make decisions based on the tyranny of the majority or those of hold power.
As a practical bit of advice to undermine the culture of relativism, Fr. Eric speaks about the importance of learning how to talk to each other in a calm, rational and civilized manner, as opposed to trying to convince each other of our respective positions by appealing to anger, tradition or a consensus opinion.
