Friends,
During July we explored mourning loss in the forgiveness process. You heard interviews with Mama Jane, who struggled with fertility, Dr. Abby Jorgensen, who supports families experiencing perinatal loss, and Paige McLemore, whose sister was tragically murdered. Forgiveness involves loss, but it also brings hope, accessible through prayer.
In August, we will delve into various forms of prayer and devotion, focusing on inner healing prayer to soften our hearts towards self-forgiveness and forgiving others.
In today's episode, we explore what prayer is, different types of prayer, and their importance in the forgiveness process. We start with the definition of prayer and I share my earliest memories of prayer involving my grandmother, teaching me the Gentle Jesus prayer and the Our Father in Afrikaans.
I discuss two postures of praying—mental or silent prayer (contemplative prayer) and vocal prayer. Additionally, I explore four prayer intentions: blessing and adoration, petition, intercession, and thanksgiving.
Prayer is crucial in the forgiveness process. Without prayer, we're like a compass without a needle.
