0.00 Hutchy has dropped to Number 19 on Ash Browne’s list of AFL Movers and Shakers. Footy is back and things are back to normal as if COVID had never happened. Anger at the footy rules a great example.
3.40 – News Corp and Facebook have reached a deal. The press release was a cracker.
7.00 – Discussion of Patrick Dangerfield putting his case to the media prior to fronting the Match Review Panel. Does his position as the AFLPA president give him an invisible shield?
10.00 – Discussion of Scott Morrison’s press conference and the use of the term ‘glass houses’ after a question from Andrew Clennell at Sky News. News Corp refute the PM’s assertion there is an active inquiry into an alleged sexual assault at the media company.
24.40 – The NFL and their tens of millions of dollar sign on fees and comparison to the AFL situation.
29.00 – Taking Out the Trash. Crows announce they’d parted ways with Tyson Stengle just as the AFL announce the concussion sub rule coming in on the eve of the season opener. Thanks to all of the Sounding Board’s Amateur Media Garbologists who were quick to pick up this TOTT.
31.00 – John Burns former 3AW host does exclusive interview with News Corp to bag out former employer (and News Corp competitor) Nine Radio. Even Married at First Sight cops it despite incredible ratings. Kane Cornes must be up there on the Verity Scores too.
34.00 – Is it ok to have a beer before you go to work at the footy? Jon Ralph doesn’t think so.
36.45 – SEN rolls out world first technology of providing real time, no delay commentary at live sport events with SEN Stadium. If you’re heading to Marvel Stadium give it a go.
39.00 – Question of the Week for Drinkwise from Mick Cowcher via Facebook
“What are your thoughts on the excessive obscenities throughout, particularly from coaches and in game action? Does this jeopardise or sideline the ability to target the younger generation of listeners? US sports documentaries seem more catered to a wider audience. Is Amazon still finding their way in this respect? Or is a cultural change in acceptable language required in Australian sport. I am an Eagles fan, and watching the series changed my perception of Adam Simpson negatively. Additionally as a Gen Y viewer I found the treatment of players, particularly Coniglio, from coaches only eroded their confidence. Are coaches out of touch with the current day player? Anyone who has played before is familiar with a spray although it is a workplace, and this behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated in other fields of employment Great to hear your thoughts. I really value your insights.”
