The Police Ministry says it will hand over a report detailing a plot to oust Minister Fikile Mbalula to the Inspector-General of Intelligence.

Trade union Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) says rescue operations are continuing at Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu mine near Carltonville on the West Rand.

Amabhungane journalist, Susan Comrie, says there also are questions about the price that that the family has sold its mining unit, Tegeta. Experts believe that it may be opportunistic for the Gupta family to get rid of such a controversial asset at this point.

International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane has broken her silence on assault allegations against Zimbabwe's first lady Grace Mugabe. The minister granted Mugabe diplomatic immunity last weekend, despite South African model Gabriella Engels laying assault charges against her. Mugabe was accused of beating Engels at a Sandton hotel where her two sons were staying. Pictures of Engels with deep cuts to her forehead surfaced on social media, sparking public outrage. Mugabe returned home on Sunday morning after being granted diplomatic immunity. Minister Nkoana Mashabane says the incident was regrettable.

The ANC caucus in parliament says the reported disciplinary action of former Minister of Tourism Dereck Hanekom is being handled by the Luthuli House. The party has asked Hanekom to explain why he should n't be removed as the chairperson of it's national disciplinary committee. This, after Hanekom's comment on social media saying ANC MPS "must vote against state capture, massive looting and corruption" in the recent motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma. Outspoken ANC MP, Makhosi Khoza, Mondli Gungubele and Pravin Gordhan, have also openly expressed desire to use their conscience at the ballot box. Khoza has since been fired as chairperson of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Public Service. The opposition says President Jacob Zuma is taking steps to punish Mps who voted against him. ANC presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is reported to have been chased away from Marikana. She is in the North West on a campaign trail accompanied by supporters in about 20 minibus taxis. Trade union AMCU asked Dlamini-Zuma to leave, saying she was not welcome in the area. She apparently did not tell the residents of Marikana that she would be in the area. Marikana has been a no-go area for the ANC since the Marikana tragedy five years ago. Zebulon Maine reports...
