It was a disgusting game, and a gross win. The Kings did everything in the book to try and lose this game, and it was a miracle they actually managed to pull it out.

We all hoped the Kings had turned a corner after the impressive back to back win against the Bucks and Lakers. And even though they lost to the Knicks, the Kings held tough and matched the Knicks physicality. But then there's a stinker like this where the Kings just about lose to a team missing over half of its roster and had no business being remotely competitive.

At this point, it's just going to be who the Kings are, they'll rise to the level of higher competition, and sink to the level of lower competition.

They get this win against the Grizzlies, but this is nothing the Kings should be proud of.

Do you like physical basketball? Are you tired of foul calls every other possession? Are you tired of the ridiculously high scoring games of today's NBA? Well then the Kings vs Knicks in the G1C on Saturday night was for you!

This game was as old school and physical as a game could get. Insane amounts of contact, very few whistles, just letting the players play and may the tougher team win. Judging from the result of the game, you may say the Kings got punked but that was not the case. The Kings very much matched the Knick's physicality and played them incredibly tough and were very much in position to win this game.

But they simply couldn't hit enough shots this game and Jalen Brunson damn near hit all of his in a masterpiece of a performance from him.

While the loss hurts, this is a great lesson for the Kings as the playoffs have plenty of teams that are going to turn games into rock fights like this. The Kings did well to match the Knicks, and they'll need to do this more if they are to find success in the playoffs.

After a confounding loss to the Rockets last Sunday, the Kings continue to confuse their fans by pulling off 2 equally confounding wins in back to back nights.

The Kings, against the Bucks and the Lakers, played inspired defense and held their opponents to subpar performances on the offensive end. Their own offense as well, seems to have discovered new life as well and as a result, they've had 2 very impressive wins against 2 very tough opponents. Turns out, when you make shots and make your opponents miss shots, you tend win a lot of those games.

It's still hard to get a grip on this year's Kings, but at least for now, the Kings have shown that they can hang with the elite teams of the league. Now it's time for them to build on this momentum and establish themselves in the tight race for playoff seeding in the west.

Well, the Kings keep doing this to us. We thought they conquered their below .500 demons with the improbable win against the Spurs 3 days ago. But alas, they lose another weird one at home to the under .500 Rockets.

The game was a tale of 2 halves, in the 1st half the Kings forced the Rockets to play their style of basketball, which involves a lot playing fast and in transition. In the 2nd half, the Rockets slowed the game down and turned it into a grind it out physical game. The Kings weren't able to shake out of the chains the Rocket put on them despite a late rally and the Kings lose another weird one in front of their home fans.

It keeps happening, and at this point this is what this team is. They play down to the level of bad teams and sometimes they play up to the level of superior teams. Let's see if this characterization is true when they match up against the Bucks on Tuesday and Lakers on Wednesday. Because that might be the only thing the optimists can hang on to in order to think this team has any chance in the playoffs.

It started out horribly for the Kings in LA, they went down 21 early and look absolutely hopeless. And then, the Kings completely turned it around. By halftime, what was a 21 point deficit for the Kings turned into a 15 point lead as the Kings completely flipped the script on the shell shocked Lakers. The Kings would control the game from then on and they get the much needed win over the Lakers who were hot on their tails in the standings.

Well the Kings got a great win over a formidable opponent, now they come back to Sac to face a shorthanded middling Spurs team without their rising phenom, Victor Wembenyama. Easy money right? They'll be able to finish the job ... right?

Well, if you've been watching the Kings, you know how it goes. They're going to somehow blow this game, and they just about did. They were down 5 with under a minute to go with De'Aaron Fox fouling out, it was bleak.

But the Kings pulled off a miracle, they scored 7 straight points to take the lead with a Sabonis pick-6 dunk to somehow win this game. It wasn't pretty, but you'll take a win however you can get them.

The Kings had a great weekend, they had the tough win against the Wolves on the road, and teams around them in the standing all took Ls while the Kings had 2 days off.

All the Kings had to do was to finish the job and beat the Bulls to create some separation between the teams around them. Well ... about that ...

The Kings just don't want to make things easy on themselves, they lose to the Bulls at home after leading by 14 in the 1st half and 22 in the 2nd half. It was a comedy of errors with turnovers, fouling too much, and subpar defense that doomed them.

But it really just speaks to the bigger issue with the Kings, they're just an inconsistent team. They can win against the best teams in the league and lose to worse teams in the league on any given night. And there's no answer in sight, this is just kind of who they are.

As the season winds down and the battle for playoff seeding continues, it will be really interesting where the Kings end up, and which Kings team is going to show up on any given night. Say what you will about the Kings, they keep things interesting.

Off the heels of getting pummeled by the Nuggets 2 days ago, the Kings get a little bit of retribution by beating the #1 seed in the West. A feat even more impressive because they were once again without De'Aaron Fox.

Now it has to be mentioned that the Wolves were without the services of their best player Anthony Edwards for the 2nd half.

Nevertheless, it's an impressive win by the Kings who fought through missed 3s, free throws, and Sabonis fouling out in overtime to snag the win on the road. With the 5-10 spots in the Western Conference standings being so jumbled, every win matters.

Also, with how close all 3 of these meetings between these 2 teams have been thus far, this could prove to be a very interesting matchup in the playoffs if it were to happen ...

The Kings had a chance to go 4-0 against the defending champs tonight, but it was not to be.

It started out well with the Kings who got a 15 point lead with 8:00 to go in the 2nd quarter and looked to have all the momentum despite not having their star point guard. Then the Nugget decided to turn on Uber mode. They proceed to pummel the Kings on the inside with Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic and the rest of the team follow suit to go on a 33-8 run to end the 1st half and that was the game.

The Kings crumpled under the heightened Denver defense and they didn't have a prayer of stopping the Nuggets on the other end either.

While it's understandable the Kings would lose to the Nuggets without De'Aaron Fox, they need every win they can get with the tight race for the last playoff and play-in spots. It also hurts that the Nuggets showed that they are leagues above the Kings when they are completely locked in and that they have a long way to go before they are a championship level team.

Mike Brown had been preaching the need to be a good defensive team all season. To say the Kings have been hit or miss when it comes to executing that plan would be an understatement. But against the Clippers on Sunday night in LA, the Kings pulled off their best defensive performance of the season.

De'Aaron Fox brought the intensity on that end from the start and the rest of the team followed suit, they flew around the court getting deflections, stops and run outs to win against the Clippers going away.

That defensive intensity unfortunately, would not carry over on the next night against a depleted Miami Heat team in the G1C. The Heat got whatever they wanted, they bullied the Kings inside and passed out to shooters for open 3s.

The Kings would trail 20 going into the 4th looking absolutely gassed and lifeless. But then, the Kings, who had been struggling against the vaunted Miami zone all night, decided to run a zone of their own and mounted a furious comeback to make it a game. They would ultimately fall short and lose another "gimme" game against a Heat missing nearly half of their entire roster for the game.

The road doesn't get any easier for the Kings down the road, as they need every win they can get down the final stretch of the season.

It wasn't easy, but after making their fans sweat they were able to pull out the game against the Spurs. The Kings looked refreshed coming out of All-Star Break and guys looked like they had a little more pep in their step on offense.

But the defense was their achilles heel all night as they couldn't stop the Spurs from inside or outside the arc. They finally turned up their defense in the final possessions to pull the game out but it's going to be something they need to fix as they will be facing teams better than the Spurs who are really going target these defensive weaknesses the Kings have.

That being said, the Kings got the win they needed coming out of All-Star Break and they'll need to keep this up in the final stretch of the season.
