All Star Break is upon us! But before the Kings could partake (Or not) they had a tough back to back on the road to go through.

The first game was against the Suns in Phoenix, where it was a ballad of shot-making brilliance by both teams. The Kings would ultimately lose due to untimely mistakes and maybe some questionable officiating. But the Kings showed a lot of heart and fight in the game and it seemed like a step in the right direction to get some momentum before All Star Break.

That momentum however was non-existent for much of the next game in Denver the next night. The Kings looked gassed and simply didn't have it on either end of the floor and looked like they were gonna lay a turd and call it a night. But instead, they hung in there, and slowly clawed their way back. They took advantage of an similarly checked out Nuggets team and outplayed them down the stretch to steal the game in stunning fashion. It wasn't pretty, and I mean it was an ugly game, but the Kings continue to prove that while they can be a turd sandwich at times, they have an extra gear that they can tap into when they need it.

The philosophy of winning a basketball game is simple, you make shots and force the other team to miss shots, you will likely win the game. The Kings last year were really good at making shots but not great at making the other team miss. This years team has tried to focus more on making the other team miss and taken a step back when it comes to making shots.

The result unfortunately a lot of the time this year with this approach is that they end up doing neither, and we get some really ugly losses. The Kings missed a bunch of shots early, and couldn't keep the Thunder from making theirs. Even though the Kings got hot later in the game, they couldn't get stops and they were never able to truly cut into the cushion the Thunder had built earlier in the game.

Even though we are through 2/3 of the season, the Kings are still trying to work on becoming a complete team that can score and get stops. So far, the process and results can still be very inconsistent. We likely won't have a great reading on them until the end of the year and for the time being, we just won't know which version of the Kings we'll be getting from night to night.

After the Kings vs Thunder, we got the Superbowl with the Niners taking on the Chiefs with the Niners losing in a heartbreaker. Fong returns to give his thought.

The Kings get a palate cleanser game after losing to the Pistons on Wednesday with a dominant victory over a shorthanded Nuggets team on the 2nd night of a back to back.

The Kings were just … better than they were last game, they hit more shots and played terrific defense for stretches. And by doing that, they went from losing against the worst teams in NBA history to beating the defending champs. Sometimes basketball is just a simple game.

The trade deadline came and went with the Kings not doing anything besides trading for Robin Lopez and then waiving him. Did the front office do the right thing?

And finally, the WWE press conference in Las Vegas was eventful to say the least, and seemingly, the Cody-Roman-Rock saga has now taken an interesting turn, seemingly for the better.

It was the trappiest game that has ever trapped. And as the day went on it only got even trappier. The Pistons, who had won only 6 games all season, traded away 2 rotation players and were going to be playing without Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdonavic. Logic would dictate that a good Kings team would wipe the floor with this team right?

Well, lemme introduce you to the Sacramento Kings as they lose in embarrassing fashion to the aforementioned depleted Detroit Pistons at home.

The most simple explanation for this game is that Detroit was hot in this game, and the Kings were not. But it's a pattern for the Kings where they seem to keep losing to teams that they have no business losing to.

And now this game gets to join that pantheon of crap games the Kings have blown this season.

Kings will face Denver in the G1C on Friday before going on another road trip before All-Star Break.

Cavs get the Kings back for their loss against the Kings earlier this season where they couldn’t miss in G1C. Instead, the script flipped and this time the Cavs couldn’t miss from 3. And that was what the game boiled down to, the Cav were lights out from 3, and the Kings couldn't keep up.

The Kings in all honestly didn’t play bad, but on this night they needed something special in order to match what the Cavs were giving.

In wrestling news, The Rock's return has been met with a lot of backlash that it will be at the expense of Cody. The reaction from fans online have led WWE to seemingly take a very interesting direction in their response to address the situation.

Kings started their back to back in Indiana and get an impressive win by taking advantage of a shorthanded Pacers team on the 2nd night of a back to back, and might I say, imposed their will on them.

They played the Pacers really well on defense, where they were active and constantly creating TOs which led to plenty of transition offense which was pretty much the difference in the game. A good bounce back game for the Kings after a rough showing in Miami and in addition, they avenge their loss to the Pacers at home from a few weeks back.

The Kings then went into Chicago and again, came out strong. They dominating the Bulls in the first half and jumping to a 30 point lead early in the 3rd. The Kings were running good offense but terrific on defense getting tons of steals, deflections and runouts which sucked the life out of the Bulls and the fans in the United Center.

But then they started to cool down from the outside and the Bulls upped their defensive intensity and made it into a game. The 2 teams traded baskets in crunch time with the Kings eventually pulling out the victory that should have been a lot easier than it was.

That being said, the Kings with these 2 victory are now 5-1 on this 7 game road trip with their last game being in Cleveland. They are now 10 games over .500 and is creating some separation between them and the lower half of the playoff bracket.

In other Kings news, both Fox and Sabonis were controversially left off the 2024 All Star team despite their stellar numbers and team success, which created a firestorm not only amongst Kings fans but also the national media.

It was always a trap game. Heat came into this game having lost their last 7 games were going to be motivated to break out of their slump against a Kings team that is always very sus in these kinds of games.

Well the result was what a lot of us feared, but the reason is a bit more complicated than what meets the eye.

The Kings played the Heat very tough for about 2 and a half quarters, but in the 3rd quarter the Heat went into their infamous zone, and the Kings really struggled against it. They couldn’t get any good shots for a long stretch. They did find success later in the game by getting open 3s, but they struggled all night to hit them.

The King’s 4 game winning streak comes to an end in a pretty flat manner, let’s hope they find their offensive mojo these next games.

It was tight one, and it never should have been. Had the Kings lost this one, we would’ve had another worst loss of the year contender. The Kings played a skeleton crew of not the Memphis Grizzlies, but the skeleton crew of the Memphis Hustle, their G-League Affiliate. This team, with a bunch of G-Leaguers and Jaren Jackson, played the Kings almost dead even and got dangerously close to beating the Kings.

How? Well, the Kings played like absolute garbage. And it wasn’t just regular garbage, it was a masterclass of how to blow a game against an severely shorthanded opponent on the 2nd night of a back to back.

They couldn’t hit shots, they turned it over 19 times and were just straight dumb, had they just played regular bad, they would’ve won by 20 going away. But instead, they squeaked by with so big shot down the stretch.

It was awful to watch, and really just highlights how the Kings are such a weird team on a night to night basis. Sure, good teams can sometimes lose to bad teams, OKC with a healthy roster just lost to the Pistons over the weekend.

But ultimately, the Kings did pull it out to extend their win streak to 3 going into Miami on Wednesday. Miami has lost their 7 games, but the Kings better go in with their A game, because if they come out the way they did against the Grizzlies tonight, the Heat will absolutely terrorize them.

The Kings had a tough task ahead of them, they had to contain Luka Doncic after he scored 73 points against the Hawks the night before. Would the Kings defense be able to contain Luka or is he going to feast like he has against so many other teams?

Well, the good news for the Kings is that it was the former, they made it very difficult on Luka to get off any easy looks and made his teammates make plays, which wasn't pretty a lot of the time. The Kings also sliced up the Mavs defense all night, maintaining control of the game for much of its duration.

It did get too close for comfort at the end but they took care of business and closed it out. Now they head to Memphis to face the Grizzlies again on Monday to continue their longest road trip of the season.
