The Kings can't buy a beam. It's been rough for the Kings as they have lost 5 out of their last 6 and now, their last 3 in a row, with the last 2 being the most devastating.

First it was New Orleans, who sweep the season series with the Kings 5-0, something that hasn't done in 20 years. New Orleans was simply the better team, they were bigger, stronger and were the more talented team. The Kings fought valiantly, but the Pelicans proved that they are simply a better team than the Kings.

Then on the next night, the Kings were held the Suns for 3 quarters. But in what has become a theme for the Kings, they seemingly run out of gas by the time the 4th quarter arrives and struggle to score. That was the case again in this game where they outscored 30-22 by the Suns in the period. Making matters worse, the Kings still had the game in hand but inexcusable mistakes down the stretch cost them the game, really highlighting the struggles they've had closing games.

These 2 losses guaranteed that they will be in the West Play-in, an unfavorable spot to be in and one that is the culmination of all the self-inflicted wounds this season.

Another game where the Kings go up big against a tough team early, and another game whether they gas out on offense in the 2nd half and lose a big game against a tough opponent.

The Kings shot a total of 58 threes and made 20 of them, a very good number, but they were only able to make 13 shots inside the arc. This is going to be a problem for the Kings going forward, without Malik they lack the amount of creators that can actually get into the paint consistently. So this is the reality that the Kings are going to deal with the rest of the season until Malik can hopefully make it back.

Their newfound defense will keep them in games like it did this game, but the Kings need to find more ways to get buckets late in order to close them out.

After 2 consecutive Beamless nights (shoutout Deuce and Mo), the Kings get back in the win column by blowing out the Nets in Brooklyn. It wasn't the prettiest by any means, but the Kings did a good job of limiting Brooklyn with their defense and holding them to only 77 points.

With the playoff race in the West so tight, with seeds 5-9 being separated by only 3.5 games with only a handful of games left, it's still anyone's spot to take.

The Kings hope to keep pace in the race by taking on the Thunder on Tuesday.

The Kings have now put themselves in a huge hole. They get blown out in New York in deflating fashion by losing a 21 point lead, and come up short on a miraculous comeback in Boston.

By losing these 2 games, they are in danger of possibly dropping to the 9 seed before the season is over.

One saving grace however is that the 6th seed isn't out of reach. But it's going to be tough and the Kings will really need to pull a rabbit out of their hat.

Another saving grace is that in both losses, they have shown the capacity to really compete and overtake an opponent when they are fully locked in. Let's just hope they can summon more of that in the final 5 games of the season.

Another day, another game where the Kings win by dominating on the defensive end. After going back and forth in a close game midway through the 3rd quarter, the Kings turned up the dial on defense and completely shut the water off on the Clipper offense. That plus the offensive rebounding party the Kings were putting on, what was a 4 point game about 4 minutes into the 3rd was now a 21 point game in favor of the Kings.

It's another game where the Kings demonstrated once again their new defensive identity that they have adopted since the All-Star Break. It's no secret that Mike Brown is a defensive minded coach and has always preached the importance of defense in the playoffs.

This win, where the Kings won despite not shoot well has to make Mike a very happy man. The Kings now have the ability to win ugly, and those are the kinds of games that playoff basketball is made off.

The Kings get a much needed win after the twin losses to the Mavs earlier in the week. The win was also needed as it comes on the heels of the news that Malik Monk will be out for 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain in his right knee. So getting this win against a depleted Jazz team was not only needed for the Kings in the standings, but also for much needed positive vibes after a rough week.

While this game was sketchy for the 1st half, where the Kings couldn't build a substantial lead on the Jazz, the Kings exploded in the 3rd quarter after an early timeout by Mike Brown. The Kings would build a huge lead that the Jazz would never threaten the rest of the game.

To add to vibes, the Kings got much needed reinforcements with the return of Trey Lyles and Sasha Vezenkov, both of whom played well.

The Kings have a tough road the rest of the way and the players will have to do their best to fill the Monk void. But for at least one game, the Kings seem very capable of doing just that.

The Kings definitely took the Tuesday loss to the Mavs to heart. And they channeled that energy and came out absolute gangbusters. They played with incredible energy and intensity throughout the game and the Mavs seemed to be rattled for 3 quarters, unable to match the King's speed and physicality.

But then the 4th quarter started, the Mavs turned it up on offense, particularly their 2 stars, Luka and Kyrie. They hit shot after shot and a 10 point lead was tied in a blink of an eye. The Kings seemed to run out of gas as they struggled to score down the stretch.

Dante Exum would hit a 3 to give the Mavs the lead with 28 seconds to go. The Kings miss on the other end and a costly turnover after an offensive rebound basically ended the game.

It's a huge loss but an encouraging one. The Kings fought hard and suffered a huge loss with Malik Monk going down in the first quarter. Yet they played great and had a great chance to win this game. This will be the level of play they need in order to succeed in the postseason, and while this loss was a huge gut punch, the best way to learn is through adversity.

Now this loss likely puts the Kings out of the 6th seed barring some sort of meltdown from one of the 4-6 seed teams. So that means the Kings will more than likely be Play-in bound, adding an extra level of uncertainty to their season.

And also, all this growth from adversity talk could be for naught if they lose to the Jazz. Let's hope that's not going to be the case come Sunday night.

The Kings returned home after their east coast trip and split a pair of huge games.

First, they were able to dismantle the shorthanded Sixers by limiting Tyrese Maxey and letting that trickle to the rest of the Sixers not being able to get easy shots. It was another impressive showing on defense for the Kings and it allowed Kings fans to breathe a sigh of relief as it's usually these kinds of game where a shorthanded and lesser team that give the Kings the biggest issues.

Unfortunately, on the next night the Mavericks came into Golden 1 Center and absolutely lit up the Kings from the 3 point line. It was just another one of those nights where a team that is mediocre from 3 just doesn't miss from 3 for whatever reason. On the other side, the Kings offense abandoned them as they couldn't hit their 3s, and they also were able to generate enough good looks going to the basket, especially in the 2nd half.

It's a big loss for the Kings as they are fighting tooth and nail with Mavs for that 6 seed and this will set them back in that battle. The hope is that they bounce back the next game as they will have another chance on Friday to avenge this ugly loss and get right back in the battle to avoid the play-in.

After the stinker in Washington, the Kings bounce back against a very good Orlando Magic team sitting in the upper tier of the Eastern Conference.

The Kings played their game, they played at a frenetic pace all game and got up and down the court. Mixed in with some really good defense throughout the night, the Kings threw the Magic for a loop.

The Kings now end their 3 game road trip 2-1, and they head back to the G1C to face the 76ers on Monday and the Mavericks on Tuesday in a huge back to back that could be the deciding factor of whether the Kings will be in the play-in or a top-6 seed in the West.

Fresh off surviving the Grizzly bear attack in the G1C, the Kings headed across the border to the North to play the Raptors in Toronto. And ... they took care of business and demolished the skeleton crew Raptors. The Kings were simply too big and too talented for this Raps team to handle and they got the easy win with some extra rest for the starters.

The next night however, was a different story. Just when it looked like the Kings had figured things out and took a huge step forward, they take a huge step back and lose to the Wizards, who are by record, the worst team in the league.

It was a game where the Kings couldn't hit from 3, De'Aaron Fox was uncharacteristically off, and the defense was substandard. Hard to win games when all 3 of those things happen.

In a vacuum, this can be chalked up as another head-scratching loss against a bad team that the Kings have no business losing to. But in a tight Western Conference playoff race, this loss could come back to haunt them and it's another example where this year's Kings just can't get out of their own way.
