Kohelet, son of David, who inexplicably bears a female name, seriously needs a hobby, a warm blanket, and maybe a dildo... in addition to a therapist and some strong medicine to treat his ongoing malaise. Like a typical moody teenager, he cries out, "I wish I'd never been born!" Then he moans about needless toil and how all efforts are basically like chasing the wind. We're still eager to see where this is going, but after four chapters, our patience is a bit thin.

Kohelet, son of David, who inexplicably bears a female name, STILL thinks that all is meaningless. The author goes on to say that there is a time for everything, and then complains about the injustice of life. Wife then goes on a ramble about Gothic literature and recommends some dark reads for the impending autumn season.

Kohelet, son of David, who inexplicably bears a female name, still thinks that all is meaningless, and we are really worried this person is suffering intense Depression (with a capital-D because Depression its a lying bitch). Wife proposes that Kohelet is perhaps struggling with gender dysphoria. Husband suggests that maybe they need to work on repairing relationships with their children. We both agree they should pursue writing as this chapter continues to impress us.
While we have a somewhat light tone in this episode, suicidal ideation is no laughing matter. Please know you are not alone! If you, or someone you know, is suffering, reach out for help. Call 988 in the U.S. to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

An unnamed author introduces us to Kohelet, son of David, who inexplicably bears a female name. All is meaningless, per the king's experience. This passage, tho dark, is beautifully written. Ecclesiastes is a favorite for some of our listeners, and if the rest of the book is anything like its intro, we can easily see why.

so it's time for Husband and Wife to play another round of a game called You're Always Wrong.
You may be shocked to learn that we've found a few contradictions in the Bible. No wonder it's so easy to cherry-pick quotes to back up any claim!

a collection of collections, most of the Proverbs are attributed to Solomon, which is clearly nonsense, altho he may have penned a handful and collected the rest from his non-Hebrew Egyptian and Babylonian buddies. The sayings in this book were pretty black-and-white, lacking in nuance with zero gray area. We failed the pop quiz but still did better than the average schmoe, so stick that in your pipe and suck it.

The Book of Proverbs is a collection of collections, the FIFTH of which (Proverbs 30–31) are referred to as appendices.
Proverbs 31: The words of Lemuel / Admonitions to a King, AND Praise of a Good (ideal) Woman and a description thereof. Lemuel's mommy actually offers some good advice with regard to being a good leader, which basically comes to this: Keep your head straight and don't get distracted by that party life. When it comes to the ideal woman... well, basically she should run the household 24/7 and never sleep. She's expected to do all the work, with the help of her slaves, and even tho the husband is supposed to bring in the main source of income, the Mrs. must engage in that side-hustle life, which is how we ended up with ridiculous try-hard MLMs like Avon makeup, Scentsy candles, Tupperware containers, Longaberger baskets, LuLaRoe leggings, Pampered Chef kitchenware, and Paparazzi jewelry. Husband wants to know why Wife hasn't purchased him a vineyard; Wife wants to know why she hasn't been given an allowance with which to do so.
