  • Pilot authors a Book about HIMS PROGRAM Forced to attend AA meetings for life
The HIMS Nightmare is a practical guide to surviving the “Human Intervention Motivation Study” program for pilots who are in recovery from substance abuse, or who are sucked into the program despite not being addicted to mood-altering substances. The HIMS program is not what it is portrayed to be.
Developed in 1974 as a means for returning substance-abusers to the cockpit, HIMS has grown to become a monster intended to put as many pilots as possible under the complete control of their employers, who may have their required FAA medical certificates revoked at any time, for any reason.
HIMS relies almost entirely on outmoded “Twelve Step Facilitation Therapy,” which is itself based almost solely on the tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous. AA was formed in 1935 and has changed little since. Although the rate of recovery for AA alone is abysmal, HIMS claims high rates of recovery which are, in truth, the result of participants who are threatened with loss of the careers, and intrusive monitoring requirements which may stretch in duration to include a pilot’s entire career.

  • Is AA Highly effective ? Stanton Peele author debates NOT so fast !
Blog Talk Radio Safe Recovery podcast created by Filmmaker, activist, victims advocate,  Monica Richardson hosts this 1 hour show- this week with author Stanton Peele. Join us as we take on the Addiction Recovery Industry. Stanton Peele, Ph. D., J.D., is a licensed psychologist, attorney, practicing psychotherapist and the author of books and articles on the subject of alcoholism, addiction and addiction treatment. Wikipedia
Stanton Peele has been a cutting-edge figure in the addiction field for four decades.  Since publishing (with Archie Brodsky) Love and Addiction in 1975, Stanton has been a leader in virtually every development in the field: that 12-step, AA treatment is not the be-all and end-all and that practical life-management therapies are most effective; that people's self-empowerment, values, and purpose in life (as opposed to seeing themselves as powerless) can be the light out of the tunnel; and that people generally don't get better all at once, but make gradual improvements (called harm reduction) in their lives that lead them out of addiction.  Along the way, Stanton has written 12 books (including The Meaning of Addiction, Diseasing of America, The Truth About Addiction and Recovery, 7 Tools to Beat Addiction, and Addiction-Proof Your Child) and 250 professional articles, won numerous awards (including from the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs and the Drug Policy Alliance -- the leading drug policy reform organization in America), and created the Life Process Program for addiction treatment, which continues to be utilized worldwide.

Monica RIchardson and Wendy McEntyre will discuss the rotten rehab Industry and take some calls from around the USA> JarrodsLaw.Org was established to create awareness of dangers those facing addiction face and to pave the way for real change in providing oversight and accountability in the addiction treatment industry and safe sober living homes. https://jarrodslaw.org/,
JarrodsLaw is currently working with members of the United States Congress through pending legislation, HR 4684, Ensuring Access  to Quality Sober Living Act of 2018, which will direct the United States Department of Health and Human Services to implement fail safes in sober living homes where there is no regulation or oversight.
Sober living homes should be required to report deaths to the DHCS in the state where the deaths occur.JarrodsLaw was founded after my 23 year old son Jarrod died a sober-living home called “The Safe House”. I was determined to find out how and why he died. During that journey I discovered that there is no oversight or accountability of Sober Living Homes on either a federal, state, or local level. JarrodsLaw is a protector and guardian against unsafe and illegal practices in Sober-Living Homes and Treatment Centers and will fight hard to make legislative changes nationwide to prevent these unnecessary deaths.
