She joins us to break down her new book The Crucial Years, an essential guide to mental health and modern puberty in middle childhood. Sage Haven: Safer Messaging App for Kids
You love your kids more than anything — and somewhere along the way you stopped recognizing yourself. Your body changed, your career took a back seat, your goals and priorities shifted, and the version of you that existed before kids can feel like a distant memory. This week Kate and Anne are having the conversation so many moms need to hear — about staying connected to who you were, figuring out who you are becoming, and giving yourself permission to want things for yourself again. With some real highs and lows thrown in, a tech tip about cutting out the content that is making you feel worse about yourself, and a perfume obsession that is bringing all the joy. This one is for every mom who has ever looked in the mirror and wondered where she went.
Everything is Not Awful: After England's win against Norway the entire stadium broke into Hey Jude in honor of Jude Bellingham and the look on his face said it all — completely taken back by a moment that could not have been scripted any better.
Tech Tip: This week we are challenging you to audit your feed and unfollow anything that is making you feel less than — the perfect homes, the fear tactic parenting accounts, the unrealistic beauty standards — if it is not serving you it has to go.
Obsessions:
Anne’s: Le Labo Santal 33 & Santal Roller Perfume
Kate’s: Dolly all the time Book, Voicemails for Isabelle Movie

We are going there. Youth sports have become a second job, our kids have access to everything at the click of a button, beauty standards are completely out of control, and somehow we are all supposed to keep up while giving ourselves grace as we age. This week Kate and Anne are having the honest conversation about where we think society has lost the plot — and what we think we can actually do about it. No judgment, just two moms who love their kids and are trying to figure it out along the way.
Everything is not awful: Kelsey rowed solo from California to Hawaii and we cannot stop talking about it because if that is not the ultimate reminder that humans are capable of absolutely anything we do not know what is.
Tech Tip: The UK just made it official — children under 16 are banned from social media. Platforms are now required to verify ages and prevent underage users from creating accounts. This is a significant move and one that has a lot of parents in the US asking why we are not doing the same thing here. While we wait for policy to catch up, we want to make sure you have the tools to set boundaries in your own home right now. It starts with us.
Obsessions:
Anne’s: Vuori Travel Set - Must Have!! (Top, Shorts, Pants)

It is a smorgasbord week and we are covering everything. Kate is back from a girls weekend, we are deep in our Amazon Prime era, and we have thoughts on books, reality TV, spy movies and green goddess recipes. But the conversation we did not plan on having is about sycophantic AI and why we are both committing to keeping real humans in our corner for anything personal. Plus the most feel good World Cup story you have not heard yet involving a 40 year old goalkeeper named Vozinha, his mom, and a clean sheet against Spain that made the whole internet cry. Come hang with us.
Everything is not awful: Vozinha, a 40 year old goalkeeper nicknamed Granny, shut out tournament favorite Spain in Cape Verde's first ever World Cup match and went viral when he broke down in tears because his mom could not afford the visa to be there. The internet rallied, the funds were raised, Congress got involved, and his mom made it to Miami just in time to watch her son keep playing on the biggest stage in the world. Full Story
Tech Tip: How to Avoid Sycophantic AI
Keep AI out of anything personal or relational. Human connection wins every time.
Seek out models trained to be more neutral like Claude Sonnet 4.6.
When prompting ask "what would a skeptic say?" It gives the model permission to push back and actually help you think.
Obsessions:
Anne’s: Tommy John Cozy PJs
Kate’s: iPhone Wrist Strap and Case

We are halfway through the year and it is time to check in. This week Kate and Anne are getting real about their mid-year goals — fitness, health, parenting, relationships, and everything in between. Anne is in high motivation mode and Kate is learning to trust herself more. We are talking time blocking, clean eating, individual goals for each kid, date nights, and why working out might be the best therapy we can give our daughters. Plus a Father's Day weekend full of highs and lows including a drive-in movie that was a great idea until it wasn't, the most casual Father's Day that turned into the best one, and a story about Miles Russell caddying for his dad at the US Open that will make your whole day. Our tech tip this week is one every parent needs to hear right now and Kate is in her lamp era. Come check in with us.
Everything is not awful: Miles Russell made history as one of the youngest players ever at the US Open and if that was not enough, his dad got to caddy for him walking up the 18th hole on Father's Day.
Tech Tip: Know who your kid is chatting with, start slow with access, and use Communication Limits and Approved Contacts on Apple — and if you want the safest option, Sage Haven has you covered with even better tools coming to Apple this fall with Ask and Approve.
Obsessions:
Anne's: Best Facial Hair Trimmer and Must listen to tune - Elovaters - Wrong Idea

We are back from Chicago and we have thoughts. This week we are diving into our Summer Get Hot List — because hot is a state of mind and we are fully committed. From skinny shots and oral minoxidil to spray tans and a good bathing suit, we are covering everything that is making us feel like ourselves this summer. Plus our tech tip for the week is one every parent needs to hear, Kate is obsessing over a Frank and Eileen button down, and we are sharing the highs and lows of the week including why scheduling a breast MRI is an absolute nightmare. Come hang with us.
Tech Tip: Research shows that devices in the bedroom are stealing your kids' sleep — we are talking up to 11 fewer minutes a night just from having a phone in the room. Charge them elsewhere and watch what happens.

Puberty is awkward. Parenting through it doesn't have to be. This week, we sit down with Vanessa Kroll Bennett, bestselling author, podcaster, and co-founder of Less Awkward, to talk about what is actually happening in your kid's body and brain during the middle school years.
Vanessa co-founded Less Awkward and co-authored This Is So Awkward to give parents the tools, language, and confidence to guide their kids through puberty without the panic. She brings the science, the honesty, and just enough humor to make the tween years feel totally manageable.
This is the conversation most parents were never given and the one every parent of a tween desperately needs. If you have a kid heading into the awkward years, or already in the thick of it, this episode is for you.

Summer is here and routines are officially hanging on by a thread. Kate and Anne are getting into all of it this week — how to manage the schedule shift when summer throws everything off, what to do when you have a kid who does not handle change well, surviving swim season, the bedtime debate when summer hits, and why everyone in the house is just too tired right now. Plus a tech tip that stopped us in our tracks — the average adult checks their phone 200 times a day and the average teen 100 times. We are talking about what that actually does to attention spans and how small habit changes can make a real difference. Highs, lows, a truly incredible teacher story that will make you tear up, and the honest truth about how we are holding it all together right now. Spoiler — barely.
Everything is not awful: Kim Rohlf, a second-grade teacher at Westwood Elementary in Ankeny, Iowa, spent months handmaking personalized quilts for every single student in her class before retiring after 35 years
Tech Tip: Lower distractions. The average adult checks their phone 200 times per day, and the average teen 100 times per day. It does harm attention span although data not showing that it’s permanent. If we reduce distraction we can fix it. Notifications, delete certain apps, try to work on one thing longer. Focus on the show and not also scrolling. Habits can be changed!
